Job Description for Temple Tower (Gopuram) sculptor & builder
- Temporary 12 month contract
- Levelling the chosen place with Sand and Cement mortar
- Confirming the centricity of chosen entrance using the measurements
- Working full time 30 hours per week
- Must adhere to UK health and safety protocols as legislated by CDM or health and safety consultant
- From the centre, layer and mark the measurements for the Gopuram according to Hindu Vedic proportions.
- Using Sand and Bricks to raise sub-altar for the Gopuram
- To finish the raising Gopuram to a level known as ‘Kalkara’ or almost ½ level of the height within 20-25 days stipulated from the day of marking proportional measurements
- Using strong iron bars to layout the concrete base for the tower (first level) above the entrance part of the Gopuram based on the structural engineers specifications.
- The laid concrete is checked and divided according to Hindu Agama proportions and signed off by building control.
- From the 15th day after the tower base proportions are measured, brick work for first level will begin.
- Once the first level brick work construction is finished, the roofing for first level will be prepared using steel bars and concrete flooring will be laid out at the top of this level, again based on the structural engineers specification and this work will need to be signed off before
- Once the first level concrete roof sets in, a levelling is done using Sand and Concrete mortar
- Once the levelling for first level roof is over, the measurement for Vedic measurement proportions are marked (Koshtam, Karanai Kudu, Panjaaram etc.)
- After the proportional measurement marking for second floor is complete,
- build for the second level brick work starts and the roofing concrete work also will be completed and again based on the structural engineers specification and this work will need to be signed off.
- After the setting of concrete for second level roof, concrete floor will be levelled using Sand and Concrete mortar
- After levelling, the work for third level proportional measurement will be done as for second floor (Koshtam, Karanai Kudu, Panjaaram etc.) again based on the structural engineers specification and this work will need to be signed off.
- According to measurements, third level construction will be completed again based on the structural engineers specification and this work will need to be signed off before
- After the completion of third level completion, the concrete roofing will be done to raise the Gopuram top layer (Pandiyal)
- After the concrete sets in for the third level roof, levelling is done and the top layer construction will begin
- Once the construction of top layer construction is over, again based on the structural engineers specification and this work will need to be signed off and then work on the plastering and decoration of top layer (Pandiyal)
- After the plaster work is completed on the top layer, 3 persons will start work on the plaster work on 3rd Level
- After the decoration on the top layer, 2 persons will start work on the decorations on the 3rd Layer
- 3 People who finish working on plastering on 3rd Level will move down to 2nd Level for plastering work
- Then the same sequence plastering and decoration will happen up to Leve 1
- After this,Bottom (Kalkara) level upto the top of entrance door will be decorated
- Figurines will be constructed on Gopuram
- This completes the work on the Gopuram upto the sub-altar including legendary figurines
- After the completion of the cement works, painting work will begin on the entire Gopuram

In above all processes there are lot of traditional information passes on from generation to generation in the family lineage to keep a tight adherence to prescribed knowledge
- Work inside the temple
- Repainting existing Temple and all sculptors and staues inside on the internal Gopurams
- Before the painting starts, any existing paint work, especially any internal pre-existing paintwork will be removed and cleaned
- After the above, cement primer (undercoat) is applied and then painting will start
- Application of discerning stories, history of temple worship for cultural awareness, color painting, ornate designs are the duties of sculpture artist. They need to know the history, art of representing the history in a context

- Experts in plaster work in Gopurams will be delicate and artistic
- Replicate the work as in the granite works of statues

- Must have Saiva knowledge and skills that are passed down for generations on figurine constructions, artwork in accordance to cultural traditions
