We are recruiting for a dynamic, passionate and innovative midwife looking to develop their management skills within a team of community midwives.

The primary aim of the role is to ensure that a high
- quality service is delivered to pregnant women and their families during the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period, supporting low risk women to birth in their own home.

You will be expected to manage your own caseload whilst demonstrating compassionate guidance and leadership within an integrated team and will organise others in their actions and set priorities, objectives and goals within their sphere of responsibility. The team leader will work alongside the Community Matron and the Community Clinical Preceptorship Support Midwives (CPSM) to support midwives within the community and home environment.

The successful applicant will plan and implement the highest standards of individualised and holistic care, advocating for the women and their families that access maternity care within UHCW and the surrounding community. The post holder will practice in accordance with the NMC code of practice.

Accountable for own actions in accordance with Professional Regulations. Will contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times. Ensuring the safety of mothers and babies at all time

Highly developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high-quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations.

A knowledgeable team leader and resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines, ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in practice. Will support staff and users in service and policy development within a defined area/specialty

Responsible for clinical assessment of a group of patients and management of a team

ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated/audited

Participates in regular clinical orientation updates within maternity inpatient service

Responsible for identified caseload of women during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period

Responsible for the maintenance and development of her/his clinical skills

Responsible for the progress of women and their babies along the agreed care pathways, supported by the implementation of evidence-based practice. Recognise deviations from normal and implement alternative care pathway

Responsible for the implementation of and adherence to the Child Protection Strategy

Responsible for interdepartmental/organisational activities including HR; budget management; complaints.

Responsible for identifying and assessing complex clinical and non-clinical issues, implementing resolutions and monitoring/auditing outcomes

Responsible for education and development of staff and service in an identified area by engaging in clinical teaching

Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data available

Responsible for interdepartmental/ organisational activities including sickness and absence management, completing appraisals and answering complaints in accordance with expected target times

Will promote positive interpersonal relationships and be confident in challenging poor clinical practice or poor attitude.

Regularly manage expected and unexpected clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical and mental effort according to patient dependency/clinical need
