JOB SUMMARY The post holder will support the Directorate in ensuring the Trust has robust systems and processes in place to meet all regulatory and compliance requirements to support clinical teams in the achievement of clinical excellence, patient safety and regulatory assurance. The post holder will manage and lead a corporate function across the organisation and lead the managing senior professionals and managers as designated within the portfolio. The post will have 4 main domains: 1. Care GroupGovernance Partner 2.

Professional Leadership 3. Corporate Function Leadership 4. Senior Level Partnership Working The post holder will work to provide assurance with regard to the above areas and take effective action where necessary. The post holder will develop systems for governing and delivering high quality clinical services..

The post holder will support the Executive team in providing leadership and strategic direction and provide the interpretation of strategy and policy into operational delivery. The post holder is required to be part of an on call rota, supporting the senior manager on call rota for the Care Groups. This is typically one day in 10-12 days. A salary enhancement is available to support this.

**KEY RESULT AREAS**: Lead the development of a culture of high quality clinical practice that both meets the needs of the service users and provides assurance across all services, ensuring that quality and governance is owned by all staff. Contribute to the process of ensuring regulation and compliance agenda is fully embedded within the organisation. Support the development of a strategy that fosters a culture of ownership and accountability whilst encouraging innovation and staff empowerment. Contribute and lead the development of specified Trust policies and procedures to ensure practice governance issues are fully represented.

This will include liaising with the appropriate specialist advisors in the identification of skills/knowledge gaps delivering training specific to practice governance. Undertake the role of Care Group business partner. Develop and maintain effective business partner relationships with Care Groupdirectors, senior managers, clinicians and other key stakeholders. Work closely with the Care Group to provide expert advice on regulation risks, professional issues and safety.

In partnership with directorate colleagues lead on the development of local nursing practice and AHP policies to reflect national and local initiatives/ legislation and best practice ensuring these are integral to the culture and strategic direction of the Trust. Ensure Care Groupreceive practical support in improving the quality of the service delivered. Line manager responsibility for respective teams. Ensure learning that is identified in serious investigations, clinical and disciplinary are implemented in clinical practice.

Communication & Relationship Skills Ensure that through highly effective networking, relationships are established and developed with senior leaders (Internal - Board members, Directors, senior managers and clinicians; External Commissioning Consortia, Local Authority, CQC, NPSA etc) to ensure alignment of Trusts goals with national, regional and local governance requirements. Establish and maintain effective communication and relationship system with Care Groupkey stakeholders, colleagues, service users and partners relevant to the work being undertaken. Provide and receive complex and sensitive or contentious information (financial, analytical and performance) which may have significant barriers to acceptance. Translate into practice through strong interpersonal and leadership skills i.e.

through persuasion, influence and negotiation. Present complex or contentious information to large formal groups (Trust Board, Executive team, colleagues, partner organisations and service users & carers) where acceptance of and delivery of content is critical to compliance with the practice governance agenda. Maintain confidentiality during communication, consistent with agreed standards. Produce and communicate a wide range of information, e.g.

project plans, reports and performance information. Analytical and Judgement Skills Manage, monitor, analyse, review and evaluate the delivery of the key strategies to ensure that it is implemented effectively within agreed timescales and meets identified outcomes. Through critical reasoning identify risks or constraints to deliver against the Practice Governance Strategy. Risks may arise through financial or human resources issues, governance, planning, knowledge and information management, external influences or partnership and engagement.

Some will be made up of several components and stretch across multiple parts of the organisation and may be in conflict. Formulate and recommend solutions for the mitigation and management of these risks to Executive team/ Trust Board/ Clinical Governance and Clinical Safety Committee. Interpret a broad range
