Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner Surgical Neurosciences

This is a really exciting opportunity to work within the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences (MCCN), which is one of the busiest neuroscience units in the UK with outstanding clinical care given to patients across a range of conditions. It includes the specialities of Neurosurgery, Neurology, Stroke, Spinal surgery and Neuropsychology.

You must have proven experience in your clinical specialty and be able to demonstrate the motivation required to take on an ACP role. You will be required to successfully complete the MSc Advanced Practice over two years at the University of Salford.

The programme is open to experienced Health Care Practitioners who meet the essential entry requirements, please see the person specification.

The post holder will undertake a two and a half year Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice (via apprenticeship training route), with aligned clinical work. During training, the post holder will be allocated a medical supervisor to ensure successful achievement of the clinical skills required to fulfil the role.

**On successful completion of training the post holder will**:

- Have an advanced knowledge of the complexity of surgical neurosciences
- Function as a competent clinical practitioner assessing and managing patients and their families
- Develop locally agreed advanced skills in response to service and clinical demand
- Work as part of the existing surgical neurosciences team to provide cover for patients
- Facilitate transfers of selected patients between hospital departments for diagnostic and treatment purposes
- Support training and education to junior MDT members
- Provide clinical leadership to colleagues and the wider MDT
- Initiate and participate in audit and research projects relevant to surgical neurosciences
- Will be accountable for his/her actions and act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct/ Health Care Professionals Council Code of Conduct
- Will act in accordance with the local Trust and statutory guidelines and policies.
