**FTM Dance** are a Performing Arts respite day service for children and young people with additional needs, disabilities and medical conditions, aged 3 years old and above.

We’re looking to recruit a number of Care Support Workers to help participants during our sessions at weekends. This is an extremely rewarding role which will give you a real sense of satisfaction from day one.

**The opportunity**:
As a Support Worker you will support individuals during sessions to participate through encouragement, creative thinking and providing high quality support and care, in line with FTM Dance values (creative, caring and person centred) and their policies and procedures.

Daily tasks expected of the successful support worker could include (not limited to):

- Supporting individuals in accessing FTM Dance provisions such as sessions, activities and workshops and supporting their independence, choices, communication, positive relationships and participation, through encouragement, creative thinking and support.
- Supporting individuals in their personal care tasks and daily routines such as toileting and fluid/nutritional needs.
- Supporting individuals in health related tasks, such as gastrostomy, emergency medication and respiratory care etc.
- Supporting individuals in their times of needs and crisis points, where verbal de-escalation and positive handling intervention is necessary and proportionate to the risks.
- General cleaning duties such as light cleaning and mopping, discarding of waste, clearing up spillages etc.

**Who are we looking for?**

Applicants must have (or be working towards) a relevant Health and Social Care or Childcare qualification (e.g. Health and Social Care Level 2/3) and at least 1 year experience in a social care/childcare setting. This could include applicants who support a family friend, volunteering at a charity or supporting development within a 1:1 or classroom environment etc.

In addition, we are looking for people with a supportive, energetic and fun nature and a high level of patience and emotional resilience. You will have a non-judgemental attitude and the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with individuals, alongside excellent listening skills, to support each individual to get the best experience when attending our sessions.

COVID-19 considerations:
Due to the vulnerability of the people we support and in line with government guidelines for the care sector, face shields are still required in this role. In addition sanitiser and PPE are provided on site to offer as much protection as possible.
