**The Company**:
We are an established asset finance house mainly operating in mainland UK but with offices in Carrickfergus Co Antrim, where this role is based. Our NI offices comprises a small team who work alongside a number of home based team members in SE England. We are an informal, friendly and relaxed firm and we serve clients in many sectors but with a focus on the creative fields.

**The Role**:
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded person to work closely with the company directors in handling collections/bad-debt cases and in preparing and assessing new business proposals. The role will be approximately 60% bad debt focused and 40% new business focused.

The nature of this role may particularly appeal to applicants who have experience working in the collections or underwriting departments at some of the ‘Tier 1’ asset funders based in Belfast. Applicants with such experience are of particular interest to us and the role could suit someone looking to leave a more corporate position for something more hands-on and with the ability to make yourself an important part of a small organisation.

**Responsibilities will be wide ranging and include**:
**Collections aspect**:
Agreeing and obtaining defined commitments to pay

Self-managed organisation of cases to ensure all are handled in a timely and full way

Escalation of cases to include recovery of assets, legal or insolvency proceedings

Vigilance in case handling to ensure potential problem cases are identified and escalated as early as possibly

Willingness and ability to take on and eventually self-manage large aspects of the arrears function

**New business aspect**:
Conducting and assessing credit checks

Assessing third party credit proposals

Assessing company accounts and bank statements

Gaining appreciation for our appetite for risk and mindset on lending through hands-on and long-term learning from directors

**The following are prerequisites for any applicant**:
Ability to work in person from offices in Carrickfergus

Ability to work well as part of a small team

3 years experience in a finance/underwriting/credit collections role - must be demonstrated

Numeracy, literacy and working knowledge of Excel, Outlook

Ability to effectively and efficiently manage and counter-check own work

Ability to deal with clients in a direct and authoritative manner and with strong commerciality

**The following would be viewed as extremely beneficial**:
Experience in handling multi-contract asset finance collections cases

Experience in enforcing debt recovery in the England and Wales Court system

Knowledge of asset finance products, industry and norms

**Salary**: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
