Charlton Kings Care Home is one of the leading care homes in Cheltenham. Our dedicated team delivers a high standard of care, making sure residents maintain their independence and are part of a positive environment. Types of professional care include residential, dementia and respite care.
**General Assistants** are a valuable part of our team, by combining great staff with the support of strong leadership to deliver genuine and seamless care for all its residents.
As a **General Assistant**, you will be part of our hardworking team, providing support to our residents and fellow staff where needed through out the home. No day will be the same.
When you join us as a **General Assistant** you are making a difference by helping residents to feel at home and maintain their independence.
To fulfil this job role successfully, the applicant must always ensure that they are personally aware of the care procedures within the Home, and how to deliver these in a professional and friendly manner. The applicant must also be competent in documenting work using the Homes recording systems. The applicant must adhere to agreed ways of working as defined by the Care Quality Commission led by The Care Act 2014.
**As a General Assistant you will:

- Assist in the Kitchen helping with preparation of food and beverages.
- Organise activities - helping deliver an entertainment and activities programme.
- Escort residents for walks or meetings with friends and family, medical appointments.
- Provide tea/coffee beverages to our residents.
- Help with general duties as instructed by the Senior/Activities Manager on duty
- Help Housekeeping
**Main accountabilities and responsibilities**
To always be mindful of what a resident is trying to achieve and be supportive towards reaching this goal whenever possible.
To report any concerns you have about any aspect of a resident’s life without delay.
To work to the homes policies and procedures and your training at all times.
To feedback any suggestions you have about how to improve the service the Home provides.
To document your work and observations as per the Homes recording systems at all times.
To report any suspected incident of abuse, or signs of abuse, without delay.
To respect the dignity, wishes and choices of residents at all times.
To report any health and safety violations or risks without delay.
To train and mentor other staff in their practise when asked.
To check records have been correctly completed to the required standards.
To monitor that support provided to the residents is above all else, compliant with the Care Act 2014.
To respect the residents’ confidentiality at all times.
