**Job purpose**

AS the Senior Early Years Adviser you will ensure that high quality, effective and evidence informed approaches are developed, embedded and tested in the national change strategies and partnerships across the UK.

**Key accountabilities**:

- To support the development of an early years strategy which is aligned with and informs national change strategies
- To advise and support Country Teams working in collaboration, and where agreed to lead, on the development and testing of effective early years practices and of adaptation, improvement and innovation in our programmes and approaches to deliver on our national change strategies
- To advise on effective approaches for high quality sustained implementation and, where agreed, scale-up of effective early years practices
- To develop and maintain, as necessary, central programme strategies, outlining the core evidence-based programme components which projects should based work and adaptations around
- To develop central approaches, including approaches to training development, to support high quality, effective and evidence-informed practice development work across by Country Teams and to build the capacity of Country Teams to use them
- To be responsible for the partnerships, resources and central components of our programmes and approaches which are drawn on by all Country Teams, updating them in line with our learning and the wider evidence base
- To advise on and support local and national influencing to achieve policy and practice change, and sharing of our learning, in line with national change strategies
- To stay informed about developments in policy, practice and the wider evidence base relating to our early years objectives, undertake literature reviews, analyses and horizon scanning, and to use this knowledge to support our work
- To draw together learning from across the Country Teams and use this to support influencing for local and national change in line with our national change strategies
- To develop, lead and maintain excellent relationships with external networks and partners including academics and sector bodies.
- To support fundraising and our relationships with donors

**Person Profile**

**Skills and Experience**
- Knowledge of the early years and children's sector and experience of working within it
- Experience of innovation, developing effective programmes or approaches, and adaptation and improvement, and understanding of effective approaches in these areas
- Strong project management experience
- Strong influencing skills and experience of working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience of engaging and co-developing with practitioners, children and families
- A strong team player with an empowering and collaborative working style and excellent interpersonal skills

**Abilities**
- Able to bring a learning, innovation and systems thinking mindset to all your work
- Ability to work in a four nations context and to flex and adapt in line with different policy and practice systems
- Able to manage multiple activities at once and to resolve conflicting priorities
- Able to travel frequently within the UK

**Aptitude**
- Understanding of the impact of poverty on children, families and neighbourhoods and the barriers that communities face in seeking to bring about positive change
- Understanding of the evidence and practice of effective implementation and of what is involved in sustaining and scaling up effective approaches
- Understanding of early child development and broad knowledge of the evidence about effective approaches
- Positive, resilient
