**About the role**

The role involves supervision within the Highway Network Management team, responsible for the compliance and enforcement of temporary traffic regulations. In addition to these duties, the post holder will lead on the implementation and delivery of new policies, strategies and changes in legislation that impact on service delivery.

Typical duties will include:

- Day-to-day supervision of a small team of officers
- Oversee highway licencing functions
- Carry a caseload of challenging and complex queries
- Attend Safety Advisory Group meetings to provide technical advice and guidance on managing the network in relation to big events like Bristol Balloon Fiesta
- Act as the lead user for the adoption of Moving Traffic Violations project, ensuring there is a smooth transition to business as usually

The team is based our Castlewood offices in Clevedon. Please be advised that this office will be closed by 2025. Consultation is currently underway to determine the new location for colleagues based in Castlewood; This will be at Weston-super-Mare or within North Somerset. However, this role is being offered with the opportunity on a mixed office and work from home basis.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

**About you**

You will be a qualified or seasoned professional with substantial experience in the field of Highways.

You will be a pro-active problem solver, able to methodically approach any task or challenge and have extensive experience of delivering change management projects.

You will be a confident communicator, both written and verbally, and be able to clearly present information to external bodies and senior decision makers and respond to challenge.

It is desirable that you will hold a qualification in management or demonstrate experience in previous roles.
