**PART TIME SENIOR ASSISTANT - 25 HOURS PER WEEK** **(10am to 3pm)**

**Monday to Friday**

**Start date Monday 3rd June**

COATS has a vacancy for a **Senior** **Assistant **to join this popular and important charity serving the senior citizens of Crowthorne and the surrounding area.

**The Role**:
This role will develop over time to become a leading member of our team taking on some management and admin tasks. Working under the direction of the COATS Centre Manager you will assist in looking after our senior citizen visitors. Specifically:

- Meeting and greeting our Visitors as they arrive,
- Serving hot drinks and biscuits during the morning,
- Serving hot lunches,
- Serving afternoon teas,
- Guiding our less mobile Visitors when they move around our lounge,
- Talking to our Visitors individually or in small groups to encourage socialising
- Taking part in and sometimes leading activities and entertainment,
- Moving and arranging the furniture as required for different layouts to support activities and entertainment,
- Other activities as required to support our Visitors and their day at COATS.

You will need to be physically fit and able to respond to visitors who may need assistance.

The hours are 5 hours per day, 5 days per week and we anticipate that the hours will increase over the next year or so.

We are located at The COATS Centre, Pinewood Avenue, Crowthorne, RG45 6RQ

**We are looking for**:
Previous experience of working with senior citizens is desirable but not mandatory. You need to be caring and empathetic by nature, outgoing, flexible, and willing to learn. Some previous administration responsibility is also desirable. You will be expected to learn and develop in your role and already have, or be prepared to work towards, the following qualifications which COATS will fund:

- An NVQ 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Safeguarding Awareness Course.
- Dementia awareness qualification

The nature of the role also requires you to undergo a DBS check on commencing employment with COATS.

The role includes a 3-month trial period for both us and you to assess your fit to the role.

The hourly rate will be set based on experience but is significantly above the minimum wage level. We also operate a contributory pension scheme.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: £16,000.00-£17,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 25 per week
