Primary Teaching Assistant SEND/ SEN start asap

Are you a patient, caring person with a good sense of humour?

Do you have experience working with primary-aged children with SEND needs?

Then look no further We are working with a lovely, mainstream primary school who are on the lookout for a full-time TA for their SEND team. The school have two friendly SEND classes, with KS1 and KS2 pupils with Additional Needs. Whilst staff-to-student ratio is high in this school, they are looking for a new pair of hands to join them. The lucky TA will be passionate about supporting children's development, academically, socially and their motor skills through active learning and other learning strategies.

The lessons are tailorized to meet the needs of each individual child and follow a blended approach of formal and informal learning. As much as possible, learning is cross-curricular and inspired by topics the children are interested in, to engage and motivate pupils, also enabling staff to repeat objectives that require repetition whilst keeping children’s interests.

The class follows a daily timetable, with flexibility wherever possible to keep the days creative and children have access to different provisions, such as Attention Autism sessions, ELSA support for speech and language, Forest School and Music sessions, as well as outside organisations. The classroom itself has individual desks, group tables, a story area, book corner, sensory space and outside area that are used regularly.
- have some experience of Makaton or picture symbols as this is used daily, or be willing to learn
- enjoy working in a strong team unit to support a variety of children
- be proactive and love getting involved with messy play, getting out and about (and muddy) in Forest School, and be able to sing and dance (on or off-key is fine, it is the taking part that counts)
- be a calm, empathetic individual adaptable to the needs of the pupils, which may vary massively over the day
- thrive in creatively modifying learning to meet the child's needs
- have experience supporting children’s learning, especially with children in Early Years and/or experience of supporting children with SEND and SEMH Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs

Please note that for this role, you must be prepared to be adored by children and get messy with the water/ mud/ paint play. You will also need to have a DBS on the Update Service or be willing to get one.
