The Role

The position of Innovation Lead for the National Innovation Centre for Data (NICD) plays a vital role in supporting the Centre to deliver high quality and meaningful innovation programmes that deliver value to both industry and academia.

NICD has been established to address the data skills gap in the UK that will enable organisations to innovate through data. It delivers a flexible rolling programme of collaborative projects that focus on a specific business challenge or opportunity and transfers practical data skills into the workforce. Using these new skills, organisations can make better, data driven decisions, optimising existing operations or launching new products and services.

The role is to design, develop and deliver NICD’s innovation programmes to participants from both industry and academia. The post holder will have a focus on Enterprise, Entrepreneurship and Innovation and be involved in the development and delivery of a range of high-quality training and learning activities and resources. The role requires an appreciation of both business and academic learning styles, integrated with the latest tools and methods for continued professional development (CPD) in the area of Enterprise, Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

We are looking for a talented individual with excellent communication skills and significant experience of training programme delivery in the areas of Enterprise, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. You will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders to maximise the benefits of these programmes for both NICD and participants from industry.

Energy, enthusiasm, excellent communication skills, empathy and a positive ‘can-do’ attitude are essential.

This position is available as open-ended contracts and offer the opportunity for blended working.

Key Accountabilities
- To take full responsibility for the delivery of NICD’s innovation programs, focused on training (e.g. CPD) for industry and experiential learning for students (i.e. not within academic curriculum). This will include, updating and improving existing materials and creating new material where appropriate
- Develop and utilise on-line and digitised tools, methods and frameworks for programme delivery as appropriate
- Contribute to continuous development of the NICD innovation programmes to improve effectiveness and further enhance participant experience
- Design and deliver additional opportunities for NICD innovation programmes - e.g. for students to develop and consolidate key employability skills and for industry to benefit from enhanced training (e.g. CPD)
- Where appropriate, take the lead in identifying and progressing new opportunities for NICD innovation programmes, and associated offers (e.g. innovation workshops and masterclasses), in line with NICD strategy
- Maintain and develop knowledge through continuous professional development activities to keep abreast of the latest advances in both business and academic learning styles methods and the latest digital tools, techniques, methods and frameworks that can be introduced to NICDs programmes to enhance programme delivery and participant experience
- Contribute to NICDs outreach activities
- Undertake such duties as are required by the line manager

The Person (Essential)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Ability to deliver training materials associated with Enterprise, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (e.g. Lean Start-Up methodology; Business Model Generation, Value Proposition Design)
- Evidence of experience in training development, enhanced / innovative training for business and/or academic purposes
- Experience of dealing with industry participants and/or students from a wide range of backgrounds
- Experience of contribution to design and development of training material focussed on Enterprise, Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- Ability to work with senior members of corporate executive teams and converse with domain experts in Enterprise, Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- Strong delivery focus to develop ideas into opportunities, with experience of doing this
- Demonstrable communication, influencing and networking skills
