Carlisle, United Kingdom North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Working up to 37.5 hours per week. Full & part time considered. 75.00 hours available

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to join either the Radiology or Histopathology department in an innovative position of Cancer Pathway Navigator within The Surgery, Critical Care and Clinical Support Care Group.

We require dynamic flexible individuals with advanced IT, administrative and organisational skills. The post holders will be required to have excellent communication skills and an ability to deal with complex situations with service users and clinicians over the phone and in person.

An ability to work autonomously and to respond quickly to requests is required in addition to the ability to use your own initiative.

This is a key administrative role supporting the diagnostic pathways and working closely with our cancer coordinators who track patients through their pathways.

There are two posts available, one within the Radiology department and one within the Histopathology department. Main duties of the role:

- To assist with the implementation of the Optimal Cancer Pathways
- To effectively manage the progress of diagnostics on a cancer pathway through the department including managing appointments and ensuring reports are available within a timely manner
- Manage the cancer pathways, liaising closely with the operational and clinical leads as well as offering support to the administrative needs of the diagnostic service.
- To create increased capacity through more efficient diagnostic pathways by reducing unnecessary appointments and tests

A significant level of liaison with different services is required and the post holder will demonstrate highly developed diplomatic and influencing skills. Attention to detail, excellent communication and organisational skills are key components to the position.
