Leeds, United Kingdom Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The NHS Northern Gambling Service is a regional service, with clinics for Yorkshire and the Humber (Leeds), for the North West (Manchester) and the North East (Sunderland). The service is led by a Consultant Psychologist and national expert in the field. As a new service the postholder can contribute to ongoing service developments and evaluation, and has the opportunity to innovate.

The clinical model is psychological, with psychological therapy in a group and/or individual format. Cognitive behavioural therapy forms the core model for gambling addiction, with other models used for co-occurring emotional vulnerability and trauma (DBT, EMDR, CBT). The multi-disciplinary team is made up of psychology, psychiatry, mental health nurses and psychotherapists. The post holder will be based in our Leeds clinic, some travel across clinics may be necessary.

We are a high quality, high performing NHS foundation trust. We are the main provider of specialist mental health and learning disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York as well as some highly specialised services across the country.
We employ around 3,000 staff and every year we have contact with over 25,000 service users. Our vision is to provide outstanding mental health and learning disability services as an employer of choice. Our ambition is to support our service users and carers, our staff and the communities we serve to live healthy and fulfilling lives. We need people like you to help us achieve our goals; to live our lives free from stigma and discrimination; and to improve the lives of people with a learning disability and mental ill health.
We perform well against local and national targets and in our most recent CQC inspection, 85% of our services were rated good or outstanding.
As a teaching trust with strong links to local universities, we are a centre of excellence for teaching, research and development.

The post holder will be a qualified psychologist. They will provide assessment, case formulation, care planning, risk assessment and safety planning, and treatment of service users with gambling disorder and co-occurring distress. The role also involves using our family intervention for those affected by someone else’s gambling disorder. Providing clinical supervision to other disciplines will form part of the role.

The role will involve supporting audit and clinical governance. They will be supervised by a senior clinical psychologist and work within the full regional MDT. They will work within professional guidelines and within the overall framework of the Trust’s policies and procedures. Some teaching/presentations in public, academic, and professional settings is also a part of the role.
