Milestone are currently looking to recruit Parish Stewards to work on our Wiltshire contract in Melksham, reporting into a Supervisor.

As a Parish Steward you will be part of our Highways operational delivery team who are responsible for maintaining the highway network in Wiltshire.

To liaise with Parish and Town Councils and undertake basic highway maintenance activities within the Community. Area, identifying defects and works needs with the object of improving the condition and maintenance of the highway network.

**KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- To work safely and be responsible for personal safety and that of others who come into contact with our works.
- To carry out all required checks of plant, equipment and vehicles including completion of associated reports.
- To liaise with the Divisional Highways Office, Parish and Town Councils to identify and agree works programmes.
- To undertake identified works including maintenance to highway drainage features, signs and street furniture, carriageway and footway defects, and clearance of highway obstructions.
- To identify and where possible, repair minor defects.
- To note and report more major defects and problems, both on and adjacent to the highway, your supervisor and the Divisional Highways Office for further investigation and action.
- To accurately complete daily record sheets and submit them at the end of each day.
- Accurate recording of information in HIAMS via use of tablet device
- To respond to out of office hours emergencies in accordance with roster and within required timescales.
- To undergo all necessary training
- Participate in Winter Service and OOH operations.

**MEASURES OF SUCCESS**:

- Feedback from Divisional Highways Office, Parish and Town Councils.
- Works completed to programme.
- RIDDOR, LTIFR and service strike reduction targets achieved.
- Continual improvement in performance indicators.
- Satisfactory outcome from quality, safety and environmental audits.
- Successfully complete training courses.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**
- This job can be physically demanding and will involve lifting and carrying.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION (Essential)**

It is essential that the person meets the following criteria:

- Competent to use both computers and Tablets.
- Flexible in terms of hours worked, attitude and tasks undertaken.
- Holds a current driving license, and capable of gaining LGV license.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION (Desirable)**

It is desirable that the person either meets the following criteria or is capable of achieving them within a given timescale:

- Conversant with Microsoft Programs
- Holds the appropriate Street Works qualifications desired not essential as training will be provided
- Holds or working towards NVQ level 2.
- Competent and trained to operate powered hand tools such as disc cutters, chainsaws, plate compactors, strimmer’s and hedge cutters.

**Additional Information**
- You must possess a high degree of manual dexterity demonstrated through the use of hand tools.
- You will be required to work outdoors in all weathers and be required to walk and stand on uneven ground.
- You must also be able to work within a confined space, without restriction.
