Ward Clerk

To work within the wider clinical team, welcome new patients to the Ward and accurately collate their records and notes. Answer telephone and respond appropriately to callers enquiries. Must have good organisational skills with a caring and professional manner. Must have the ability to work flexibly and cohesively within a team.

To interpret basic clinical and non-clinical data, ensure data entry to the relevant IT systems in an accurate and timely manner including those used for patient admission, transfer and discharge.

To receive and welcome new patients onto the ward, check records, ensure notes and necessary paperwork is collated accurately and inform the nurse in charge of any query or issues.

To provide a front of house approach offering non-clinical information to colleagues, visitors, external agencies. Answer the telephone and respond to appropriate questions/queries ensuring the caller is informed of any necessary action to be taken.

On Ward F1 we provide professional and compassionate care mainly but not exhaustively for elderly, general medical patients.

Working closely with nursing, medical, other clerical staff and outside agencies to contribute to the maintenance and on-going development of an effective and efficient ward clerk service for patients, their relatives and visitors through the performing of key administrative and clerical tasks.

To work flexibly as part of the wider clinical team using initiative and experience to ensure all incoming work is appropriately prioritised and to provide general administrative, clerical and secretarial support as required.
