Out of Hours Response and Patrol Officer
Islington
Contract
£26.30 per hour

Our client is looking for an experienced Out of Hours Response and Patrol Officer.

To work as part of a team to deliver a high-quality service, with the aim of improving the street environment, reducing nuisance and antisocial behaviour and dealing with illegal street trading within the borough. To achieve this by working in partnership with the council contractors and stakeholders, engaging with the community, educating and taking robust enforcement action where required.

1. To visit locations where issues have been reported or in order to monitor compliance. To make detailed, accurate notes of findings

2. To patrol, observe and report all incidents of low level anti-social behaviour, illegal street trading, non-compliance with street trading licence conditions and any issues that impact on local environmental quality including crime and disorder.

3. To undertake a wide range of enforcement duties and responsibilities ranging from issuing advice and encouragement, issuing fixed penalty notices, to taking direct action in dealing with low level anti-social behaviour and illegal street trading on the street.

4. To take down detailed descriptions of persons involved in incidents and to identify these individuals where possible

5. To communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals including those who may be aggressive, hostile, upset and frustrated. To educate and advise on
6. resolutions to issues, and to take formal enforcement action in accordance with policies where required.

7. To use a sound level meter to measure noise levels where required.

8. To attend meetings including committee, public meetings, residents’ association meetings and court as required to present reports and give evidence.

9. To instruct external contractors and supervise works as and when required.
Extensive experience of working in an enforcement and community engagement role which includes investigating, monitoring for compliance and resolving issues by informal means as well as taking formal enforcement action such as issuing FPN’s, legal notices and prosecuting for non-compliance
Experience of and the ability to attend court and to give evidence on behalf of the council.
Ability to accurately record relevant information in detail
Ability to recognise individuals and to positively identify them
Ability to check business compliance with regulations including those pertaining to waste and licensing. To review relevant documentation and engage with them to secure compliance.
Ability to educate the public and business on means of compliance
