A charitable housing association is looking for a Finance Assistant to join their team on a temporary 6-months contract role. Based in Chelmsford, Essex and offering Hybrid working.
Accountabilities:

- Support the Financial Accounting and Reporting team along with the Corporate Finance team to help build and deliver excellent accounting practice, compliance, corporate finance and management accounting services.
- Support the preparation of management accounting reports including cash flows and forecasts, to enable these to be used by Directorates to drive their strategies.
- Provide insights and analysis relating to the financial health.
- Investigate specific areas of financial compliance, e.g. meeting VAT requirements, as directed by the Finance leadership team.
- Support activities to continuously improve accounting practice, standards and compliance.
- Experience in a relevant financial role.
- Good knowledge of financial legislation and practice.
- Experience of engaging with management with the gravitas to support and influence their decision making.
- Strong experience in collating, preparing and interpreting reports, budgets, accounts, financial statements and complex financial forecasting models.
- Good experience in distilling complex analysis and presenting findings succinctly.
- Ability to work proactively and independently seeking guidance where appropriate.
- An effective communicator who can adapt their style to provide clear messages to non Finance as well as Finance colleagues.
- Experience in financial forecasting and the ability to help guide colleagues from a financial perspective.
- Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel.

Qualifications:

- Educated to minimum level 4 GCSE/O Level at Grade C or above or equivalent.

Qualifications desirables:

- Part qualified accountant, e.g. relevant AAT, CCAB, CIMA or equivalent qualification or equivalent demonstrable prior learning.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
