**Job overview**:
The Maternity Unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is looking for exceptional individuals to join our midwifery bleep holder team.

The post holders will have a key leadership and management role at a senior level and will provide specialist skills and knowledge to support the organisation and the delivery of care for patients within the division.

The bleep holding team's rota involves working a mixture of shifts with predominately long days and nights. Occasional late shifts may be required.

**Main duties of the job**:
The bleep holders will be visible and accessible in the clinical area for patients, relatives and staff. They will lead by example and act as a positive role model for all staff, taking responsibility for your own professional development.

Maintain personal standards of conduct and behaviour, which are consistent with Trust and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards and requirements.

The role will cover the Royal Oldham Maternity unit. The bleep holders shift pattern will include being rostered to early, late and night shifts. You will need to be naturally responsive to the changing demands on your priorities and workloads.

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
**This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.**

- NMC Registered Midwife
- First level degree or equivalent experience/education
- Practice assessor / supervisor/ sign off mentor

**Desirable criteria**:

- Leadership qualification
- Evidence of further study at Masters level or equivalent

**Knowledge and Skills**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Minimum 2 years years band 6 experience
- Excellent communication ,and documentation skills
- Leadership skills, calm decision maker, Able to work flexibly
- Ongoing CPD
- Understanding of HR, safeguarding and public health agenda

**Desirable criteria**:

- Shift/ Unit Coordination skills
