As Ground Handling & Training Specialist, you will ensure the co-ordination and authorization, across all TUI Airline operations, of all special load, SSR, Cargo and fuelling requirements, always driving continuous improvement. You will play an integral role in ensuring Ground Handling procedures are compliant with both regulations and internal TUI policy, developing procedures to be more effective, and raising awareness of safe and efficient handling practice with internal and external stakeholders.

In this role, you’ll report to the Ground Ops Regulations & Standards Manager. We are happy to consider a hybrid working model in line with local office requirements.

ABOUT THE JOB

Coordinate and supervising the ULD supply and logistics for TUI airline wide-body operations
Work in close co-operation with TUI‘s cargo management supplier manage all cargo related trouble shooting, ground handling reports and other investigations as required, to ensure smooth cargo handling
Work in close co-operation with Centralised Load-control Centre’s (CLC’s) to ensure loading instructions and load-sheet production is in line with the TUI requirements, managing all trouble shooting, ground handling reports, and other investigations as required
Coordinate non-revenue load activities (e.g. Co-mail, COMAT, Service Cargo) and if required provide expertise in revenue load activities
Act as the main interface between Ground Handling and internal stakeholders for authorisation of Dangerous Goods & Special Loads carried by passengers.
Act as the main interface with Ground Ops IT to manage inventory levels of Special Load and Dangerous Goods (e.g. Live animals, electric mobility aids, sports equipment & oxygen)
Ensure all Dangerous Goods procedures meet all regulatory requirements and operate within TUI safety guidelines, working in close co-operation with internal & external audits
Monitor sub-contracted into plane fuel activity to ensure it is in line with the regulation; handle all in-to plane fuel-related trouble shooting, ground handling reports, and other investigation as required
Manage Ground Operations Manual content for Cargo, Fueling, Special Load, Load-control, ULD, De-icing and Dangerous Goods
Liaise closely with stakeholders in Ground Operations to seek feedback, improvement opportunities and revisions to existing procedures, working in close cooperation with the Manual Coordinator
Co-ordinate handling procedures with Flight Operations to ensure alignment of all manuals, ensuring the Ground Operations Manual is comprehensive, up-to-date and consistent with other operational manuals, supporting the objective of operating safe, compliant, efficient and customer-focused Ground Operations
Manage the translation of regulatory and internal requirements, new initiatives and products into Ground Operations procedures, working closely with Ground Ops colleagues to deliver these requirements
Initiate, develop and maintain positive and impactful relationships with various regulatory agencies
Identify Ground Handling training requirements and provide training support to internal colleagues, and contracted ground service providers where required, in the specialised areas including Dangerous Goods, Cargo, Special Loads, ULD Logistics, Load-control, De-icing and Into-plane fueling
Work with colleagues to ensure training content for internal & external stakeholders meets regulatory & TUI internal needs
ABOUT YOU

Significant knowledge and experience in ground handling, and experience working in a highly regulated, technical environment
Knowledge and experience of relevant Ground Handling regulations, including Dangerous Goods, Cargo, De-icing, Load-control and Fueling
Ability to work to agreed SLAs with multiple customers and successfully delivering quality outputs to pre-determined standards and timescales
Experience of continuous improvement activities in complex and regulated environments
Proven ability to think operationally whilst ensuring full regulatory compliance is achieved and maintained
Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and vision you are resilient to succeed in a fast-paced and demanding operational environment with a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills
