**About This Role**

The Head of Accounting, along with the Finance Director, provides Financial Leadership for the UK & Ireland affiliates, providing guidance on financial matters as required. In this role you will ensure proper accounting in compliance with legal and internal guidelines to ensure correct monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and local accounting requirements. In this role you will ensure existence of and adherence to, strong internal control processes in accordance with SOX and aspires to continuously improve processes and workflows, both in accounting and cross-functionally.

This role will act as delegate to the Head of Finance, UK & Ireland, for operational finance matters. You will coach and develop a local and shared services team supporting execution of affiliate activities.

This is a hybrid role, requiring 50% of the week to be based in our Maidenhead offices.

**What You’ll Do**
- ** Oversight of the financial operations for the UK & Ireland legal entities including**:

- Oversees preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP as well as local accounting principles, including overseeing monthly / quarterly closing of books (currently processed via Global Business Services ’GBS‘ in Poland)
- Lead evaluation of key accounting judgment's and material estimates (e.g., Government Rebates, Lease Accounting, etc.)
- Draft and roll-out local accounting policies / memos / papers as required
- Ensure a strong level of corporate governance and accuracy across all legal entities, including statutory and corporate audits of current 10 entities.
- Oversees controls, execution, and provides on-going monitoring of all areas of accounting, including: Order to Cash processes Record to Report (US GAAP key requirements) and Accounts Payable processes
- ** Leadership**
- Development and coaching of junior staff at affiliate and members of GBS (Global Business Services) team supporting key workstreams.
- Business partnering with the broader business, including directly working with HR, Legal, Shared Services, Customer & Market Insights, Standards & Governance and Distribution & Quality, Tax and other critical functions at affiliate.
- Actively participate in best-practice discussions with other affiliate Accounting leaders across the region
- ** Stakeholder Engagement and Governance**
- Key oversight and contact person for internal, external and SOX auditors for all the financial audits. This includes ownership of SOX internal controls & annual testing regime
- Dealing with HMRC and Irish Revenue queries, in consulatation with the Corporate Tax team and external consultants, as required.
- Managing other third party stakeholder engagements as required
- ** Continuous Improvement and Project Management**
- Actively review internal cross-functional processes with a view to continually improving them, taking the lead on projects where applicable
- Leading local implementation of new processes/projects, in line with corporate objectives
- Identifying areas for optimisation of internal processes, utlising GBS (Shared Services) where possible, in order to drive efficiency

**Who You Are**

You are an experienced finance professional with a sound knowledge of accounting and related data processing, with public accounting experience. You are an enthusiastic self-starter with strong communication skills and an aptitude and hunger for change management. It’s critical that you are someone who leads from the front and pulls others along.

**Qualifications**:

- Degree in Business Studies, Accounting, Finance or related field
- Professional certification required such as ACA, ACCA, CPA
- A strong and proven background in progressively senior finance and/or accounting roles
- Public Accounting experience required (preferably Big 4)
- Sound knowledge of accounting and related data processing (e.g., accounting systems, spreadsheets, etc.)
- Experience with complex accounting matters such as Government Rebates
- A self starter who shows initiative and high level of accuracy with strong analytical skills, is curious and professionally skeptic
- Change management aptitude and ability to lead evaluation and drive implementation of change
- Strong communication skills, ability to take complex topics and convey them simply and succinctly
- Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office, Oracle, Hyperion or comparable systems)

**Preferred Skills**
- Experience working with a UK pharmaceutical company
- Experience managing people/coaching less experienced team members.
- International mindset and experience
