Are you ready for a challenge? This is an exciting time to join Redbridge Council. We are looking to recruit a talented Court Officer in the Rent Service, who will share in our vision to secure sustainable housing solutions, through working in partnership with customers, for all.

**About the role**:
Reporting the Specialist Support Manager, the Rent - Court Officer will play a key role in case escalation, for both secure council tenants and those in temporary accommodation. You will be part of a team consisting of two Court Officers, ensuring that all recovery actions are compliant with internal procedures and external legislation. This team will focus on preparing and presenting arrears cases at court, of current tenants - high volume, and beyond the transactional stage. You will support the Rent Collection Team to ensure smooth transition of workflow. This role will also require you to manage your caseload up to and including the eviction stage as required. You will always contribute to the minimisation of arrears through a customer-centric approach.
- A Rent Recovery background and/or a comprehensive knowledge of rent recovery processes and procedures for both secure council tenants and those in temporary accommodation with
- You must have, experience of preparing and presenting housing possession cases at court (no legal qualifications required)
- A detailed understanding of the pre-action protocol for social housing claims, an in-depth knowledge of relevant housing legislation, including benefits, debts, and welfare reforms.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent time-management and self-organisational skills
- Experience of casework and decision making
- Experience of building strong relationships with internal and external partners and agencies; strong communication skills
- Good understand and practical knowledge of GDPR and associated legislation.
