**RESPONSIBLE TO**:Operations Manager

**RESPONSIBLE FOR**:Supporting pupils and parents/carers, working with the attendance team in ensuring that all children and young people access school regularly. The post-holder will also contribute to all aspects of safeguarding, for young people within the school. To set up the Oasis Hub Immingham through delivering activities for the community and building partnerships with other local groups. To engage and work with hard-to-reach families supporting them to access Hub services and activities to develop their skills, knowledge, and aspirations.

**WORKING PATTERN**:Term time plus 5 Training days (Fixed Term 12 months)

37 Hours a Week plus support with running the HAF

program as and when required during the holiday period (which

will be compensated as appropriate).

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- To assist in the production and collation of attendance information and documentation
- To develop and implement integrated systems / procedures to monitor and improve student/pupil access to education.
- To attend and support with relevant Attendance Panel Meetings.
- To work within the referral system of OAI to obtain details of students/pupils whose attendance is irregular or whose behaviour or health is causing concern.
- To liaise with staff and other appropriate colleagues to determine any issues including curriculum or social issues in the academy.
- To make home visits where appropriate to offer support and guidance on ways to resolve issues (as part of the lone working policy), including advice and assistance on contact with other services / agencies (e.g. Health Visitors, Social Workers, School Nurse etc.), who may be able to give material resources and/or other support to the family (e.g. free school meals).
- To assist in making arrangements to interview parents/carers and children.
- To set up the Oasis Hub Immingham through delivering activities for the community and building partnerships with other local groups.
- To build positive and supportive working partnerships with the local community to deliver Oasis projects that address the wider socio-economic barriers that children and young people experience.
- Agree local community development priorities & activities with the Leadership Team, supporting Academy priorities and addressing the needs of the local neighbourhood.
- Generate income through fundraising for community engagement work.
- Support the Academy around parental and community engagement particularly by supporting transition and Academy community events.
- To assess and explore with parents/carers and appropriate colleagues the circumstances of the child and the family and any issues which may arise, such as irregular school attendance, curriculum and social issues at school, material and financial difficulties, relationships within the family and community, SEN, criminal activity and drug-related problems, mental health issues. Exploring the level and nature of other intervention with the family by other professionals or agencies.
- To ensure parents/carers are aware of their legal obligations, where appropriate, in relation to school registration and attendance, plus the legal penalties which may result if they fail to comply.
- To compile case records and reports to inform the school and appropriate outside agencies, when necessary, of any exceptional circumstances which they need to be aware of (e.g. child protection issues).
- To assist with the escorting of children and parents/carers to school where required.
- To identify where appropriate, to make a relevant referral regarding any safeguarding issues.
- To support Early Help Assessments.

**GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Engage hard to reach families and support them to engage with the academy and access Hub services and activities.
- Work with families to support the academy objectives around attendance and behaviour.
- Provide additional pastoral support to families with complex needs.
- Be responsible for the engagement, support and learning of families, whose children attend the Academy.
- Work directly with parents in a non-judgemental way empowering them and their families to get the most out of the opportunities available.
- Research and identify local parent/carer and family needs and aspirations with a focus on parenting, family learning, health/wellbeing, participation, and personal development.
