**Overview of the role**

Reporting into the Clinical Quality and Governance Director, the Head of Clinical Quality & Patient Safety will a lead a team dedicated to ensuring high quality, safe care is delivered across our OJVs and for providing professional expertise and guidance to support all employees across Newmedica.

The role is home based with regular travel to the clinical sites and our office locations as and when required.

**So** what will I be doing?**

As a senior role in the business, you will take a lead in the development and implementation of a range of key work programmes and strategies such as the Quality & Safety Strategy, professional practice, safeguarding adult and IPC.

This is a varied role with a range of responsibilities across several areas including Assurance and Audit, Regulatory & Contractual, Incident Reporting, Training and Reporting so you'll be wearing different hats at different times and will draw on your extensive clinical background as a leader and role model for the business.

Some examples of the areas of work you’ll be involved with range from leading the patient safety incident processes including full implementation and embedding of PSIRF to supporting services with CQC relationship meetings and during CQC inspections. And from ensuring the organisation is compliant with any new NHS requirements relating to investigation and reporting of patient safety events to producing monthly and quarterly reports for internal governance committees, clients and third parties.

As someone with inherent gravitas you’ll have experience of building effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You'll be presenting complex information and seeking engagement on a regular basis so your sophisticated communication and influencing skills will be called upon regularly.

**What experience do I need?**

We are looking for a Registered General Nurse with experience gained in an ophthalmology setting. Your clinical experience and expertise will be vital in this role.

You’ll have extensive senior level management experience in a healthcare setting whether that be in the NHS or in a private healthcare provider.

We’re looking for a team player who is adept at building relationships and communicating across all levels and with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders and employees alike.

You’ll be adept at data analysis, report writing, policy development and writing and developing and implementing robust governance structures and frameworks.

With an excellent working knowledge and understanding of healthcare regulatory bodies you’ll have experience of working closely with the CQC.

You’ll have experience of leading regional or national teams and will have demonstrable evidence of having successfully implemented and embedded robust governance structures.
