Standard levels of testing within the BAU/Product release cycle, covers In-Sprint System Testing, System Integration testing and User Acceptance testing; often followed by Post Implementation Verification testing - where we collaborate strongly with our diverse user base to provide value and positive experiences through the safe delivery of their changes. Additional test levels may be required during larger Product, Project and Programme work, where Performance, End to End; and Operational Acceptance Testing are needed.

You will be expected to play a varied role, with the skills to deliver testing capability from its lowest level (Test Design and Execution), through the management level (Test Strategy and Planning) and onto governance (Test Audit and Process Improvement). We proactively encourage involvement in the Root Cause Analysis of everything we discover, along with a strong focus on Process Improvement and our Customer - to improve everything that we deliver and ensuring value at every stage.

Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:
Test Management
- Work to develop the high-level Test Strategy and detailed Test Plan with full agreement and buy-in from the key Train, Release, Project and/or Business Stakeholders;
- Develop an approach to testing which is intelligent (what to test, when and why) with automation to reduce effort and increase agility where appropriate;
- Work to ensure that all aspects of our Test Management process actively supports and delivers the required deliverables from each test level in a safe & agile manner;
- Be comfortable with providing leadership, advice and support in relation to the Test Governance of external suppliers and their stages (Unit, System, other) for the benefit of QBE as well as coaching others to actively contribute to a collaborative culture;
- Be comfortable with leading, challenging and reporting against development and test progress, via issues and metrics from the various testing stages whether that be within Sprint or Test stage based with support from your internal and external teams;

Test Engineering
- Capable of working with documentation (solution design, requirements, functional overviews, etc) and other artefacts to source test scenarios and approaches;
- Capable of liaising with Architects, Business Analysts, Developers and Users to facilitate the design and review, along with the approval of test plans, scenarios and scripts;
- Capable of designing and advising on the development of manual and automated test scripts where relevant and necessary;
- Able to explain and demonstrate the benefits of a multi-layered or iterative approach to software testing within the SDLC;

Test Execution
- Able to manage and remediate test effort upon small and large change initiatives on behalf of our Claims Train and any related Programmes;
- Able to provide the day to day management of permanent and contract team members (onshore and offshore), providing guidance and direction to enable business value delivery;
- Able to chair Team and Project level Defect Management Meetings with internal and external suppliers;
- Able to report at appropriate levels, on the progress of test execution; being proactive and practical with the defects, risks and issues raised;

Test Process Improvement
- Work closely with our Test Practice, Trains and Technology Partner teams to drive improvements and efficiencies within the SDLC & our Test Process Framework;
- Perform Root Cause Analysis on defects and environmental downtime, in order to better prepare and preventatively maintain our software and hardware in advance;
- Actively manage risks and issues that could impact the testing process;

You will need to be able to display you have the following knowledge, skills and experience:

- Experience of working as part of a Product driven delivery team
- Experience of IT Change & Release Management
- Experience of IT Product, Project and Programme Management
- Experience of Test Management and Test Process Improvement Methodologies
- Experience of Agile Delivery Methodologies
- Experience of IT Quality Management and software & infrastructure testing practises
- Strong Stakeholder Management Skills
- Strong Communication Skills
- Knowledge of Jira & Confluence is an advantage, but not essential
- Knowledge of Test Automation tooling, frameworks and processes preferable
- Knowledge of Mentoring, Coaching/Training (self and others) along with the value of ‘Continuous Learning and Unlearning’
