Oban, United Kingdom Hope to Oban Full time

**H2O - Who are we?**

Hope2Oban (H2O) is a Christian charity set up as a community initiative to provide support for the local young people of Oban and surrounding West Coast of Scotland. H2O aims to serve young people by helping meet their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs through innovative and dynamic Christian youth work.
An area of Scotland famed for its beautiful coastline and dramatic skylines, Oban sits at the heart of Argyll life and geography as one of its principal towns. The Gateway to the Isles, Oban thrives on being a perfect base from which to explore the many surrounding islands and wider wilderness. Oban is a community rich in depth and longevity with a future-minded community spirit that is as focussed on retaining generations of Oban families as it is on offering a warm welcome to newcomers.
H2O is very much a community organisation, firmly embedded in the life and rhythm of Oban and Lorn for the past 15 years. We work alongside a range of community partners throughout Argyll, seeing our strength of relationship within the community as an important key to our success. We work particularly closely with the local high school and much of our youth workers’ time revolves around this.
We are a Christian organisation and have support from all the local churches and faith groups. The exploration of our faith is integral to all that we do, forming a backbone across the entirety of our activities.

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and motivated youth worker to join our team. You will be involved in all areas of our work. Each H2O week is a broad range of activities including a wide variety of youth groups and events, drop-in facilities, stand-alone unique events and partner working. Our success has come from patient relationship building with young people and adults alike, the continued development and strengthening of this will be of crucial importance to your work as well as:
**Essential**
- Experience in a similar role, working with children and young people in a youth work capacity
- An innovative and dynamic approach to new ideas and programmes for young people
- A willingness to undertake appropriate training for continued development
- Good organisational and leadership skills, and the ability to build and maintain good relationships with children and young people
- Ability to motivate a team of volunteers
- Working under own initiative as well as part of a team
- Awareness of the needs and issues facing children and young people today, and of children’s and young people’s culture
- A willing, flexible approach to hours of work
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection issues
- Applicants must be committed to the ethos and aims of H2O.
- Regulated Work with Children:
**Desirable**
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Experience driving minibuses
- Event management experience
- Social media marketing and management skills
- Computer literacy with basic understanding of Microsoft Office suite

This is an initial 12-month contract with the possibility to extend depending on availability of funding. The post is part time, 20 hours a week. There will be a pro-rata salaried remuneration of between £22,000 - £25,000 per annum dependent on experience inclusive of 28 days holiday entitlement.

You will be expected to be flexible in your approach to working hours and to self-manage your own time. There will be a requirement for evening and weekend working as well as an understanding that annual leave be taken in consideration with the school terms.

**Applying**:
