Sheffield, United Kingdom University of Sheffield Full time

The Digital Humanities Institute is one of the UK’s leading Digital Humanities centres, providing research and teaching in humanities-led digital methods, technology research and online publishing. Its mission is to support the innovative use of technology and computation within Arts and Humanities research as both a method of inquiry and a means of dissemination.

We are looking to appoint a new member of academic staff to a Senior Lecturer position. The position involves teaching, research and leadership. We are looking for a creative and dynamic individual with a strong interest in and commitment to the discipline of Digital Humanities; a track record of agenda-setting research and innovation in their field; evidence of their ability to mentor academic staff; an enthusiasm for teaching delivery; and a collegiate outlook and approach to their work. You will be joining our extremely successful team of lecturers, researchers and software engineers, who already undertake Digital Humanities research in a wide range of areas.
You will have a strong disciplinary background in Digital Humanities and a demonstrable knowledge and track record of using Digital Humanities methodologies within arts and humanities research.

You will have a strong track record of research including an international reputation, publications in highly ranked international journals, evidence of success in external funding capture, a commitment to interdisciplinary and collaborative research and knowledge exchange. You will be able to recognise and build on the current research strengths of the DHI and have the ability to further enhance the research and impact profile in your chosen area through peer-reviewed outputs, externally-funded research projects, public engagement, and other appropriate activities.
With proven, exceptional teaching abilities in the field of Digital Humanities, you will play a key role in the delivery of team-taught modules on our postgraduate degrees, MA Digital Culture & Communication and MA Cultural Data Management & Communication, as well as contributing to our postgraduate research programmes. You will also be expected to contribute to the Digital Humanities Institute’s presence within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and the wider University.

The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
