**Job Title**: Qualified Residential Support Worker

**Location**: Leyland, Lancashire

**Salary**: £30,960 per annum

**Hours**: 160 per month plus 10 sleeps per month, any additional hours paid at £13 an hour

**About us**

At Prosperity Children’s Service we provide care for vulnerable children and young people across the Lancashire and Greater Manchester area. Our children and young people receive support from a small team of incredible Registered Managers and Support Workers who strive to engage, motivate, and instil confidence and life skills aiming for the best possible outcomes for them.

Due to expansion, we now have a number of additional vacancies in our new residential homes.

**Your key responsibilities as the Qualified Residential Support Worker**:
As the Qualified Residential Support Worker, you will be working with our Outstanding Managers and will support your team with the overall running of the homes, care team and children in line with OFSTED legislation. You will be assisting in the promotion of good childcare practice in accordance with Prosperity Children’s Services Policies and Procedures. A key component of the role will be day to day support of the children in our care including household duties, cooking, shopping, laundry and adhering to safeguarding protocols in the home. The role is to ensure that all children receive appropriate care and education as required in their individualised care plans.

We will train and develop you so you can deliver out therapeutic model to support and care for the children in the best possible way.

- Thrive in a team environment and be flexible with the ability to work a rota pattern
- Have experience of working with children and young people with challenging behaviours including mental health and behavioural problems
- Be able to work weekdays, evenings, weekends and nights - although flexible working will be considered
- Work alongside other passionate and inspiring support workers and instil motivation to the young people
- Be a part of helping the children and young people with their personal growth and development
- Hold experience of looking after children with emotional, behavioural, or mental health conditions, as such you will need to be compassionate, calm, resilient and understand the issues and challenges children face.
- Good communication skills are a must. You may be required to spend lengthy amounts of time with service users therefore the ability to communicate well is essential.
- Good written and verbal skills. This role involves paperwork and liaising with local authorities. Record keeping and report writing as well as verbally reporting is essential.
- The ability to problem-solve, de-escalate, and divert attention

**Essential requirements**:

- Level 3 in Residential childcare or equivalent.
- Full UK Driving Licence
- 2 years’ experience of working within Children's homes and/or similar setting
- You must undertake our Crisis prevention institute training. This training provides you with fundamental knowledge around understanding trauma, de-escalation techniques, communication skills and safety interventions, inclusive of restrictive holds. Due to the trauma and past experiences of the children we work with, it can sometimes be difficult for them to regulate their emotions and behaviour, which can require the use of restrictive holds. As part of the role, you will be expected to carry out these safety interventions safely which can be physically demanding for extended periods of time.
