Medicole Ltd is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Band 5 Podiatrist to join our team based in Sheffield. We are a private practice offering routine and advanced lower limb treatments to patients across the city of Sheffield and provide a supportive environment for both new graduates and those with several years of experience.

**Position**: Full-time Podiatrist (Band 5) but we will also consider part-time for the right applicant.

**Salary **£27,055 - £32,934 Dependent on experience.

**Hours**: 8 hour day (willing to discuss flexible working hours)

**Days**:Flexible, 5 days, Monday - Saturday. Whenever necessary we will offer evening appointments and you may be expected to work some extended hours within your working week.

**Location**: Sheffield, S11 8TB. Travel is not a requirement of this position.

**General Description**:To provide a range of podiatry treatments to include but not limited to routine podiatry care, nail surgery, biomechanical assessments, verruca needling, sports rehab, insole/orthotic prescription and high risk foot care.

In addition to clinical duties you may be required to assist the admin team when not treating.

(Experience in verruca needling, nail surgery and biomechanical assessment is desirable but not essential)

**General Requirements**:

- Diploma/Degree in podiatry from a SOCAP recognised training establishment
- Current HCPC registration
- Clinical experience: 1 year post graduate preferred.
- Personal Indemnity Insurance (College of podiatry)
- Reliable with excellent time management skills
- Ability to manage varied caseload
- Work well under pressure
- Maintain accurate records at all times
- Produce accurate and timely patient care records on the clinical database
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Team player able to work with other staff and podiatrists
- Demonstrate effective infection control and hygiene practice

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**

**Clinical**
- To be professional and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management and support other staff to do likewise.
- To frequently undertake the comprehensive assessment of patients, requiring prolonged concentration to investigate and analyse the assessment to formulate individualised management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning and a wide range of treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care.
- To use continuous assessment to evaluate treatment outcomes and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- To seek clinical and professional advice and support from senior/specialist Podiatrist when required.
- To accept clinical responsibility for patients and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
- To demonstrate highly developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory senses for assessment and manual treatment of patients.
- To receive and communicate complex, sensitive or contentious information to patients and carers, who may have barriers to understanding, e.g. dysphasic, complex mental health problems, to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of conditions.
- To have expert verbal and non-verbal communication skills of motivation, explanation and reassurance to agree and gain co-operation of patients and carers in their treatment programmes.
- To be responsible for ensuring the effective selection and use of all treatment resources.
- To provide podiatry in working conditions which may frequently be hazardous e.g. exposure to body fluids.

**Organisational**
- Plan and prioritise own workload, balancing other patient related and professional demands.
- To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out Podiatrist duties and demonstrate competence and safe use of equipment.
- To maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date clinical and non-clinical documentation in line with legal and clinical requirements.
- To participate in the induction of new staff.
- To be aware of Health and Safety aspects of your work and implement any policies, which may be required to improve the safety of your work area, including your prompt recording and reporting of incidents and accidents and ensuring that equipment use is safe.
- Provide competent cover for absent colleagues.
- To undertake any other duties that might be considered appropriate by the clinic manager.

**Scope and Range**
- To be accountable, without direct supervision, for the provision of podiatry to patients.

**Special Skills/Aptitudes**
- Skills for assessing, diagnosing and treating a range of patient conditions relating to clinical area. Ability to work independently as an autonomous practitioner.
