To work as part of the inpatient physiotherapy team assisting physiotherapists with the rehabilitation of patients.
To ensure all physiotherapy departments, hydrotherapy treatment, ward and physiotherapy storage areas are clean and prepared for use. This will involve clearing up after use and ensuring all areas meet health and safety
requirements.
To ensure all physiotherapy, hand therapy and hydrotherapy equipment is
available, prepared, clean and ready for use.
To carry out administrative tasks as required by the physiotherapists’ e.g.
accurate data collection, printing operation list and notes, collecting and filing patients’ records, making appointments, faxing, photocopying, ordering and maintaining stock levels within the department and in the ward environment.
Documenting health and safety checks for the department and physiotherapy areas.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Physiotherapy Assistant to join our dynamic, friendly and supportive team of physiotherapists and assistants. The post is varied, you will mainly be workingon the wards ofthe adult inpatient orthopaedic team but may also be required to work in musculoskeletal outpatients and hydrotherapy on occasion and the role will require participation in the weekend working rota.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person with relevant experience. Good communication skills are essential and the ability to work with people as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Your role will have clinical and non-clinical duties including:

- Assisting physiotherapists with the provision of inpatient post-operative rehabilitation, helping patients to complete their exercise programmes and practice their mobility when directed by a qualified physiotherapist.
- Cleaning / maintenance of physiotherapy equipment and treatment areas and stock maintenance.

- To assist the hydrotherapy staff with the management of patients referred to the department. To chaperone patients in the hydrotherapy pool and assist them with dressing and undressing as required. This will also involve hoisting

patients in and out of the pool.
- To supervise individual patients and take classes within the hydrotherapy department. This will involve active participation within the hydrotherapy pool itself on a regular basis and not just at poolside. This will involve taking payments for classes and liaising with cashier’s office.
- To work alongside the physiotherapist within hand therapy. This will involve a variety of administration and domestic duties, there will be some supervised patient treatments e.g., wound massage, dressings, hand therapy classes etc.
- To work with the pain rehabilitation service in supervising patients in their rehabilitation and taking classes when required.
- To prepare treatment areas for use and clear up as required.
- To prepare and clean physiotherapy equipment. This will involve ensuring the physiotherapy equipment in all areas is clean and well stocked.
- To monitor the Physiotherapy equipment requiring ordering on a regular basis to ensure adequate overall stock levels.
- To collect, scan and upload the patients' electronic records
- Other clerical/administration work as required e.g., ordering stock

(electronically) photocopying, faxing, filing, scanning medical notes etc.
- To carry out data collection as required by the physiotherapists, including

entering data onto the computer data collection system. This includes activity
data and health and safety checks.
- To make appointments for patients and outpatient referrals for inpatients as appropriate. To organise the therapists' diaries and inform patients regarding physiotherapy classes.
- To assist and undertake basic audits within the department (e.g., hand washing

compliance).
- To assist physiotherapists working on inpatients with the mobilisation of

patients needing more than one person. This requires the use of moderate
physical effort for several periods during a shift.
