**Play Work and Outreach Youth Worker**
Equally we know people may have other employment and so we can offer either fixed hours or sessional dependent on the needs of the service and individual.
**About Us**:
**Play Work: Purpose**:
The primary purpose of this post will be:
- To safeguard and ensure young people’s safety and well-being at all times.
- To work as a team to develop and enable the social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development of our young people.
- To work as part of a team to create a clean, safe and welcoming environment for young people to attend.
**Responsible to**:
The post holder will be responsible to Speke Children’s Environment Management Committee and on a day-to-day basis will be responsible to both the Senior Playworker and Centre Manager.
**Roles & Responsibilities**:
1. To ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
2. To develop, plan, deliver and evaluate fun and engaging themed activities that support our annual delivery plan; such as; well-being, sports, team games, arts, creativity, cookery and being active
3. To undertake duties that ensure a clean, safe and welcoming environment for young people to attend, including tidying and cleaning.
4. To undertake basic administrative tasks e.g. User satisfaction and registration form and the collection of wider data.
5. Preparation of food for cookery sessions, healthy snacks and our wider Meals 4 All initiative.
6. Participation in overnight residentials and day trips, as required.
7. To work directly with children and groups to assist them to achieve their full potentials
8. To help maintain and service the tuck shop including cash handling.
9. To support the development of our youth forum
10. To undertake continuous training, including annual safeguarding, health & safety and first aid training. Failure to comply would eventually result in dismissal.
11. To undertake such other duties as required by the Centre Manager, which are consistent with the nature of this post and the level of responsibility.
**Youth Work: Purpose**:
The primary purpose of this post will be:
- To deliver both centre-based youth work, and street-based outreach youth work dependent on the needs of the service and the young people we serve.
- To build strong, trusting and purposeful relationships working ‘face to face’ with young people aged 13+
- To be creative in your approach.
- To assist, empower and inform young people of the wide range of opportunities available, encouraging them to make the best use of their time and where possible signpost accordingly.
- To be a positive role model working with confidence, professionalism, honesty and integrity.
- To raise awareness and share information addressing local social issues and encourage them to make the right choices.
- To support the day-to-day delivery of the service.
**Roles & Responsibilities**:
**General**:
1. To assist the Centre Manager to deliver core functions, including but not restricted to; service delivery, policy, finance, staffing and facility management,
2. To predominately work with teenagers but work across all ages and become someone that they can talk to.
3. To establish relationships of trust and mutual respect with young people and to offer support and encouragement, addressing key issues such as, drugs, alcohol, pregnancy, health, self-esteem, independent living and managing relationships.
4. To maintain a focus to continually (when appropriate) raise awareness of wider social issues, challenges and dangers that can exist and empower our young people with the tools and knowledge to deal with them.
5. To enable young people through coaching and support to make informed decisions about their life choices and how they can make positive contributions to society.
6. To maintain a professional relationship, acting as their advocate if needed whilst ensuring appropriate confidentiality and the maintenance of professional boundaries at all time.
7. To understand safeguarding and how to action concerns/incidents and deal with issues as they arise.
8. To record and share relevant statistical information (i.e. including attendance and activity records) to highlight the ongoing benefit of the youth service, to both trustees and other funding providers.
9. To operate within our policy framework.
10. To participate in training opportunities.
11. To undertake such other duties as required by the Management Committee, which are consistent with the nature of this post, grade and the level of responsibility.
**Centre Based**:
1. To help create and establish a new 13+ youth service working with the Centre Manager, to create a positive culture and environment that young people want to attend.
