Trainee Shotfirer

The Trainee Shotfirer is part of the Services Team and reports to the Area Supervisor.

To carry out duties in a safe, effective manner, and to assist other personnel in all duties relating to the services offered by the business.

**Main Responsibilities**:
1. To ensure that the company’s health and safety and environmental policies and procedures are effectively implemented, with due regard to the Company’s guidance manual(s) and safety targets.

2. To report all near misses and accidents in line with the company procedures.

3. To undertake Shotfiring duties as required by the business, ensuring that company standards in health safety and legislation are maintained at all times.

4. To liaise with the Area Supervisor and or shot firers regarding planning and preparing areas of work, access to blast sites for personnel, Multiblend trucks and drilling rigs.

5. To maintain all equipment issued from the company in an acceptable standard, particularly vehicles, ensuring all weekly and daily check sheets are completed and forwarded as required.

6. Undertake, or assist in, as appropriate, the production of risk assessments and method statements. Maintain a continuous record of Safety 5 risk assessments.

7. Attend company took box talks as and when required.

8. Manage the magazine stock levels and ensure compliance with the relevant regulations.

9. To ensure that all work carried out conforms to the Mines & Quarries Regulations 1999.

10. Undertake blast design and profiling as necessary.

11. To attend company meetings as and when required

12. To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Area Supervisor, Area Operations Manager, Operations Manager

**Qualifications/Experience (Advantageous but not essential)**:

- Car licence
- Quarry experience (but not essential)
- Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.

**Salary**: £25,600.00-£28,800.00 per year
