GLL are recruiting a Head of Centre to work at Debdale Outdoor Activity Centre in Manchester. As Head of Centre, you will be responsible for the planning, development and operational performance and delivery of the centre programme.

The Head of Centre will manage delivery of an effective, high standard outdoor education programme to Manchester schools which contributes to the curriculum requirements. The Head of Centre will also ensure compliance to statutory health and safety requirements, relevant industry practise, and adherence to Better's policies and procedures.

The Head of Centre will report to the Partnership Manager and will ensure a positive connection between the centre, the rest of Manchester's community and elite sporting facilities, along with other national outdoor activity facilities. The Head of Centre will have a minimum three years experience working in the outdoor sector and some qualifications relevant to the role for example RYA Senior Dinghy, Windsurf, Powerboat, Canoeing, Kayaking etc.

**What you’ll do**:

- To ensure the development and delivery of high quality outdoor education programmes that are fit for purpose which contribute measurable value to schools in the delivery of their educational curriculum.
- To monitor and evaluate the quality of service provision and the impact of programmes to assess performance, value for money and customer satisfaction.
- To develop effective working relationships and communication channels with key stakeholders to develop the provision required.
- To deliver a programme which at its heart is respectful of the planet in its delivery and outcomes.
- To ensure the development and delivery of high quality outdoor education programmes that are fit for purpose which contribute measurable value to schools in the delivery of their educational curriculum.
- To recruit, lead, supervise and manage people, motivating each to provide service excellence, encouraging personal development, ensuring that all staff hold appropriate qualifications.
- Overall responsibility for the safeguarding at the centre, ensuring that at all times staff adhere to the statutory requirements and BETTERs policies and procedures in relation to this.
- To support the development of an annual business plan, and from which develop, market and implement a programme in response to customer demand, contributing to the strategic objectives of both BETTER and MCRactive.
- To support the work of the Partnership Manager, including the preparation and presentation of reports, business plans and financial performance as required.
- To maintain and ensure that all operational procedures meet the requirements of National Governing Bodies and the Adventure Activities License Authority, and that the centres programme, equipment and building is managed in line with all statutory safety requirements.
- Act in accordance with, and actively promotes all GLL policies and standards.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post’s level of responsibility or required particularly as a result of events outside of GLL’s business control (pandemics etc.).
- Work flexibly in line with the needs of the business at peak flow times, evenings and weekends.
- Deliver critical incident management as and when required.

**What you need**:
A minimum of three years’ experience working in the outdoor sector.

At least one of the following:

- RYA Senior Instructor Dinghy
- RYA Senior Instructor Windsurf
- RYA Powerboat Instructor
- British Canoeing Coach Award (L3 Kayak/Canoe)
- In addition (If not superseded above)
- Paddle sport coaching award, BCU L2, UKCC Level 2 UKCC Open water endorsement or equivalent
- RYA Dinghy Instructor
- RYA Start Windsurfing Instructor
- RYA Safety boat certificate
- UK Driving license

- Rock Climbing Instructor/SPA
- Mountain Leader Award (Summer)
- Stand Up Paddleboard Leader
- BOF-Teaching Orienteering Part 1
- Current 16 hour first aid certificate
