**In a nutshell**

We’re recruiting for an ambitious Safety Co-ordinator to work closely with our depot management teams and the Logistics Safety leadership team to help create an environment that leads in safety and excellence producing highly consistent standards, data driven insights and site support that creates impact and drives change and reduces Harm and Risk across our network.

The Safety Co-ordinators role is to support the Logistics Safety Manager in ensuring depots in the region remain legally compliant and comply with the logistics safety management system.

**What you’ll be doing**
- Co-ordinate the implementation of the logistics safety strategy in line with the Logistics Safety Leadership teams’ vision and in conjunction with the depot’s senior team targets and objectives.
- Advise the depot’s management team to enable the logistics division to achieve their targets and objectives through role modelling the SHE standards
- Through innovation and continuous improvement, support the positive change of cultural and behavioural activities, advising on the logistics safety strategy for harm reduction programmes
- At the direction of the Logistics Safety Manager and in their absence manage the regions SHE management system inclusive of food safety requirements
- Evaluate the legislative health, safety, environmental and food safety requirements of the site and implement legislative changes and evaluate legal requirements. Proactively support other depots in the region with legislative compliance.
- Monitor the depots risk profile and ensure all risk assessment types are completed and reviewed when required.
- Ensure recommendations resulting from risk assessments are actioned in a timely manner.
- Interface with safety and environment regulators (EHO & EA). Communicate and record any interaction with such regulators on Sainsburys incident Management System (SIMS) and to the Logistics Safety Manager and the site’s senior team.
- Communicate RIDDOR’s to the Logistics Safety Manager and report relevant incidents as prescribed and required in the RIDDOR legislation
- Deliver SHE training as detailed in the logistics training Matrix, to enable the sites management team to fulfil their individual safety responsibilities.
- At the direction of the Logistics Safety Manager, take a lead project role on an area of top risk as identified by site specific risk profiling.
- Ensure accident investigations are completed to an acceptable standard which identifies root causes and recommends suitable remedial action that prevent recurrence. Monitor the standard of incident investigations so that they can present a robust case to defend employee/public liability claims. Coach Managers with continuous improvement where the standard of accident investigation falls below the acceptable standard.
- Monitor incident logs and ensure all incidents are entered correctly
- Liaise with Sainsbury’s legal representatives to prepare supporting information relating to personal injury claims
- Monitor the SHE performance of the site through various evaluations and create action plans as necessary.
- Assist the Logistics Safety Manager with maintaining and improving the regions SHE records and culture through the delivery of the logistics safety strategy
- Communicate trend analysis to the site in terms of safety, environmental and food safety related risks and incidents. Work with the site’s senior team to implement improvements to reduce the likelihood of further incidents and to drive continuous improvement
- Complete audits and record actions from external and internal audits. Communicate actions to depot teams and monitor outstanding actions to closure
- Communicate and develop critical information in the form of bulletins, SHE briefs, communication boards and providing information for the weekly call
- Drive compliance in line with our safety management system standards.
- Encourage and support the site to engage with trade union representatives through setting and attending the SHE committee and where required other safety meetings
- Through innovation and continuous improvement, reduce cost to the business attributed to lost time injuries, waste management and successful defence of personal injury claims
- Co-ordinate the division’s waste permits and (and subsequent renewals) reporting non-conformities.
- Lead in the development and delivery of the sites’ risk profiling programme
- Co-ordinate the development and delivery of e-solutions with internal and external partners and stakeholders, streamlining the logistics divisions SHE paperwork and reporting.
- Ensure that time management is prioritised and that key deadlines are met both from a regulatory and internal operational perspective.
