**Detective Constable - Degree Holder Entry Programme - DCDHEP
**Do you have a passion for solving puzzles? Are you a seeker of truth? Do you want a career like no other which gives you the opportunity to earn a professional qualification while you learn?**

Detective Constable's play a vital role in ensuring that the communities of the West Midlands are kept safe. We want people to join us who have a range of life experiences and backgrounds; it is important that we represent all of the communities that we serve.

As a Detective Constable you will be responsible for investigating complex cases and working hard to uncover the hidden truths to ensure you bring justice to those who need it most. You will play a key role in providing critical support for victims of crime, whilst engaging with the community to build trust and cooperation to lead a successful outcome for each case you manage.

You could find yourself working in various departments from the Public Protection Unit (PPU), Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), Homicide and Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU). No two cases or days are the same working as a Detective.

Being a Detective is a demanding and fast paced role, but the job also comes with huge rewards and job satisfaction. We are looking for individuals who have the curiosity and drive to follow every lead and ultimately discover the truth behind every situation.

**About the Detective Constable Degree Holder Entry Programme**

Our Detective Constable Degree Holder Entry Programme is a fantastic opportunity which is open to degree holders. Whilst training as a Detective Constable, you will also earn a graduate diploma in Professional Policing, which is recognised internationally

The majority of your learning will be completed ’on the job’ and digitally with your face-to-face classroom style learning which will be based in Birmingham. As you’re completing a level 6 qualification there is the expectation that part of the learning will be completed in your own time.

When you’re not studying you’ll be working alongside your colleagues as a Police Constable being the face of West Midlands Police in our local communities.

Your learning will involve training as a Uniformed Police Constable firstly and as a Police Officer you will be required to wear uniform and work with teams such as Response and Neighbourhood, dealing directly with the community and responding to emergency calls on the frontline, on a 24/7 shift pattern.

Your second year will be more tailored towards the Detective pathway and involve training with other teams such as FCID, learning more in depth knowledge about how to carry out the role of a Detective and investigate and manage cases moving forward.
