- The External Relations Officer (Europe) will play a pivotal role in representing and safeguarding Jersey's interests across Europe. The role involves leading specific initiatives to enhance Jersey's engagement with European countries, focusing on strengthening political, economic, and cultural relations.**Job description**:

- Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to increase Jersey’s influence and access in Europe, ensuring alignment with the Island’s objectives.
- Diplomatic Networking: Build and maintain a robust network of diplomatic contacts from our bases in Jersey, London, and Paris, enhancing Jersey’s presence in Europe.
- Cross-Government Collaboration: Work with colleagues across various government departments and arms-length bodies to support their European engagement, particularly in financial services and tax matters.
- Reputation Building: Enhance Jersey’s reputation and relationships with key decision-makers in European countries critical to Jersey’s interests.
- Coordination with Offices: Collaborate closely with the Jersey London Office (JLO), the Channel Islands Brussels Office (CIBO), and the Bureau des Isles Anglo-Normandes (BIAN) in Caen to ensure cohesive and coordinated efforts.

**Person specification**:

- Essential- The post holder should hold an undergraduate degree (or equivalent)
- At least two years relevant experience in a policy making environment
- Desirable- Diplomacy and Networking: Proven experience in building and managing diplomatic relationships.
- Policy Expertise: Strong understanding of policy issues, particularly in financial services and taxation.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively conveying Jersey’s interests to a variety of audiences.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, coordinating with multiple stakeholders across different locations.
- Cultural Awareness: Deep understanding of European cultures and political landscapes.
- Languages: European language skills (particularly French) are highly desirable

**Benefits**:
Non-contributory private pension scheme (employer contribution 13.6% of salary).
