Ipu Volunteer

As an IPU volunteer, you will
- Assist the nursing team with general tidying, stocking up and selected cleaning duties
- Clear rooms and kitchen areas of dirty crockery and trays and take them to the kitchen
- Restock cupboards where required with crockery and food supplies
- Make and serve refreshments for patients and visitors
- Answer the nurses reception phone and direct calls where necessary/pass on messages to staff
- Assist with administration tasks such as filing and scanning
- Assist with keeping the medical stores supply in order
- Collect and welcome visitors from reception
- Keep the sitting room and pantry areas clean and tidy
- Complete patient menu requests and return to kitchen
- Help to distribute lunches and set up for meal times
- Where requested, sit with or read with patients
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Willing, friendly and able to work as part of a caring and dedicated team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT and telephone skills
- The ability to be discrete and adhere to the strict confidentiality rules at all times
- The physical ability to fulfil the requirements of the role including safe moving and manual handling
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
- Adhere to all policies and procedures
- Participate in mandatory training (including Health & Safety, Data Protection, Infection Control, Fire Safety, Safeguarding) and attend any additional courses and that may be relevant. Please note that the majority of training is online with some courses completed face to face in a classroom setting.
- Attend volunteer or team meetings and sessions whenever possible
- Work to Farleigh Hospice values (we are caring, respectful, dedicated and innovative)
- Adhere to the no smoking policy
- Wear correct PPE where required (including masks at all times). Please note any PPE training will be provided for you as and when required.
As a volunteer you will never be made to do any tasks that you are uncomfortable with - we rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of our volunteers and want them to feel happy in the role. Full training will be given and there is always help and support on hand if you need it.
