This role is located within the Careers Network team, which exists to help students and graduates realise the potential of their University of Birmingham experience and degree, helping them to positively shape the world around them, powering possibilities for themselves, and others, throughout their careers. The team comprises circa 60 staff, across several specialist areas, supporting employability, enterprise, and entrepreneurship within and beyond the curriculum, engaging with employers, alumni, and external partners to support this endeavour. **Role Summary**

The post holder will support the development of a comprehensive package of careers and employability support, in partnership with Heads of Schools and Employability Leads, that improves the graduate outcomes of students in Schools of Psychology; Geography, Earth & Environmental Sciences; Sport & Exercise Sciences; and Biosciences. The post holder will deliver careers advice and guidance, develop employability programmes, and support the integration of employability in academic modules. With a sharp focus on offering a positive experience to all our students and recent graduates, this post will be highly responsive to the diverse employability needs of the student body and actively respond to changes in the way students and recent graduates want to access careers support and interact with Careers Network.

The post holder will work with the Careers Consultant for Life & Environmental Sciences, colleagues in Careers Network, and with academic partners to implement the University’s employability strategy and play an important role in helping the University to meet its overall targets in relation to graduate employability. This involves leading on a range of projects and working collaboratively to meet shared objectives.

**Main Duties**

**Service Delivery**
- Organising events that engage students with employers, alumni, and external contacts and that facilitate greater industry-education partnerships.
- Deliver 1-1 careers information, advice and guidance to students and graduates, both in-person and online.
- Providing careers advice and guidance to all students and graduates, developing, and delivering employability related lectures and workshops. Working flexibly to ensure these activities are delivered at times that best suit a diverse student body.
- Creating learning and information resources and communications tailored towards the specific career development needs of student.
- Expanding the use of digital technologies into delivery plans to enhance student engagement with careers sessions, and accessibility of careers and sector information.
- Analysing key data sources, including student engagement Careers Registration and Graduate Outcomes, and using the findings to understand the employability priorities for students within the caseload, and to inform and shape operational plans and service delivery.
- Maintaining professional standards across the team of guidance professionals, ensuring that services achieve institutional and national quality standards (such as the AGCAS code of practice) is compliant with relevant legislation and University guidelines.

- Advising academics on the career development needs of students, skills, and attributes predominant in the labour market, and co-creating materials that facilitate employability in modules and/or employability focussed modules, person
