Your role at a glance
A fantastic opportunity has arisen as a Head of Investment Reporting within our Retirement Division (LGRI) here at L&G.

In this role you will lead and manage the LGRI Investment Reporting function and take accountability for the management and delivery of an effective, efficient and accurate investment reporting and ALM service for LGRI Finance, including reporting of the Retail Annuities portfolio.

You will be able to understand and communicate the dynamic behaviour of our circa £80bn asset and liability portfolio and help to maintain our controlled matching position and investment variances.

You will also take responsibility and be accountable for the provision of investment reporting and ALM metrics, as well as supporting analysis and commentary on a timely basis.

What you'll be doing
- Taking ownership of the output of the LGRI Investment Reporting Team. Including providing timely and accurate delivery and commentary of investment related metrics including, but not limited to; interest rate exposure, inflation exposure and FX exposure on an IFRS, best estimate and Solvency II basis. You will also take responsibility for the analysis and commentary on the investment variance and ALM positions on all metrics and provide commentary on movement in asset liability matching for ALCO (Asset Liability Committee).
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders including, but not limited to; LGRI Finance, LGRI Investments, Asset Risk and Data Team, Group Finance and Auditors. This will include presenting and disseminating Solvency II & Economic Capital reporting results to these stakeholders, which could include incorporating specialist supporting analysis and commentary.
- Owning the effective planning of Investment Reporting activities, including prioritising allocation of resources to meet the needs of our stakeholders. This will include maintenance and development of reporting assumptions and methodology. You will also ensure the development and implementation of actuarial strategy serves to manage exposure to developing/unpredictable or volatile risk and liability.
- Taking direct responsibility for managing employees whilst being a role model to all employees across the wider Reporting Team. This will include active engagement in coaching, managing, motivating and developing employees at all levels in a manner consistent with the Company’s policies and procedures.
- Owning the development, implementation and maintenance of the team’s reporting systems, processes and methodologies. You will also ensure systems and processes are robust and that risks are assessed and appropriately controlled.
- Demonstrating an attitude of continuous improvement, by taking responsibility for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
- Prioritising and implementing system, process and methodology changes as required for the ongoing production of the IFRS and Solvency II results and analysis.
- Demonstrating a risk and control mind set through proactive identification of control weaknesses, and ensuring that all such weaknesses, as well as other control observations and issues are remediated quickly, sustainably, and effectively.
- Working with other Managers and the Director to ensure that the appropriate internal and external metrics and Finance MI are in place to provide support to the LGRI Business so that customers are treated fairly and in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and TCF policy.

What we're looking for
- A Qualified Life Actuary.
- Typically the jobholder will have a good understanding of the following: Reporting Metrics, such as: IFRS, EC and Solvency II, Bulk and Individual Annuity products, the UK Finance sector, Risk and Regulatory requirements, Insurance accounting.
- Comprehensive IFRS and Solvency II reporting experience.
- Analytical skills with the ability to review results for reasonableness.
- Team management, stakeholder management and mentoring experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in reviewing processes and implementing improvements.
- Previous experience of leading actuarial teams.
