**The job itself**:
The Family Group Conference and Lifelong Networks service is a newly created service within the East Riding of Yorkshire and forms part of our commitment to children, young people and their networks to provide a mandatory offer to bring families together to enable and empower them to formulate their own person centred plans through a relational based approach. The overarching aim of the service is to create sustainable planning with the child and/or young person’s and their network to meet their identified needs.

We are looking for an energetic, creative and courageous Family Group Conference and Lifelong Networks Co-ordinator, who can demonstrate a tenacity and enthusiasm in making a positive difference to the lives of children, young people and their networks. This post will primarily (but not solely) focus on the Lifelong Network/Family Seeing aspect of the service working with front line practitioners to develop our Network offer to children, young people and their families. This work once embed into the practice system will then commence activity around the Family Group Conference model - it is expected that this will be within a year.We are looking for passionate person to co-ordinate and facilitate some Family Group Conferences and predominately work with our front line practitioners to create a lasting support network, through or Lifelong Network offer. The Lifelong Network offer draws upon a combination of a family finding model, which originated in the United States and the family group conference model. The aim is to identify and work with relatives and other supportive adults, who are estranged from, or not yet known to, especially those who are willing to make a lasting commitment to the child/young person in safeguarding and promoting the child’s or young person’s welfare.

Therefore, it is essential that the post holder can work effectively with others with a flexible and adaptable approach in a relational based approach - always demonstrating their commitment to working to the highest possible standards whilst remaining at all times child centred.

We have created a bespoke practice model that reflects and connects our vision, our value base and our behaviour as one East Riding of Yorkshire approach to working with children, young people and their families, which is nurtured and grown from within East Riding of Yorkshire CYPSSS and owned by our workforce.

We remain committed to Signs of Safety as a practice framework, but this will be set within a much wider, values based, model of practice that clearly connects Signs of Safety much more clearly with the East Riding value base, and our overall approach to making and sustaining relationships with children, families and communities.

Without a well embedded model, there is nothing to centre our practice on to ensure that, while the work may be different, all our teams are grounded in the same values, beliefs, theories and approaches. Having a well-developed practice model helps to create a common language for the service and enables everyone to understand how we go about doing the right things, in the right way and for the right reasons for children and their families.

Therefore, it is essential that the post holder is able to work effectively with others with a flexible and adaptable approach in a relational based approach - always demonstrating their commitment to working to the highest possible standards whilst remaining at all times child centred.You will have an** i**n depth understanding and experience of working with children, young people and their networks and the experiences of working within a children’s social care setting, as well as a thorough knowledge of family group conferencing and a commitment to the values of family involvement, relational approaches and empowerment underpinning them.

Your experience of direct work with children and their families, will bring skill and creativity to working with our children and young people, to ensure their views and wishes are central to the work. Having convened Family group Conferences, you will have developed a high level of interpersonal skills and the capacity to reassure and engage parents and other family and professionals to formulating and implementing safe and sustainable plans.

You will have the ability to work with front line practitioners to support the identification of networks and then support front line practitioners work with networks to secure good sustainable connections.

You will be an effective communicator with the ability to organise and convene meetings wherein family members and relevant friends will meet to discuss issues pertinent to a child at risk and arrive at solutions that will enhance the child’s quality of life and wellbeing.
