**What you will be doing**

The role of Finance Assistant will support the transactional element of the team workload with a focus on the purchasing function and its related processing, reporting and control procedures.

The Finance Assistant role will include but is not limited to:

- Processing purchase invoices for commercial, operational, and intercompany business activities.
- Setting up new supplier accounts and maintain data held in existing supplier accounts.
- Ensuring accuracy of the trade purchase ledger via review and reconciliation of supplier account transactions.
- Ensuring expenditure reported via employee expense claims and corporate card purchasing is appropriately accounted for.
- Supporting commercial data requests for expenditure verification work or business tenders.
- Producing monthly analytical reviews of operational expenditure to support internal & external reporting.
- Managing the finance team inboxes by responding to general queries and processing requests.
- Taking on other reasonable duties as agreed with your line manager.

**What we will need from you**
- A genuine interest in learning about working within a finance function.
- A willingness to study for an accountancy qualification, ideally AAT (we will provide training and study support).
- Basic IT literacy, particularly MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Willing to manage transactional tasks and data entry on a routine schedule.
- An ability to convey information to suppliers and stakeholders with confidence & clarity.
- An ability to work on own initiative and seek support when required.
- Good at taking instruction and communicating back on progress.
- Capable of managing and organising own workload to meet deadlines.
- A positive flexible attitude to working in a team.
