**Responsible to**: Chef and Manager

**Functional Links**:Other Kitchen staff, Care staff, Laundry staff, Residents.

**Qualifications**: Basic Food Hygiene if preparing food.

**Purpose of job**: To ensure that high standards of food preparation and food service are maintained in accordance with health, safety and hygiene requirements.

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and cook food in safe hygienic manner.
- Prepare and serve beverages.
- Ensure that food for special diets is prepared accordingly.
- Assist with the serving of meals in the dining room and/or on trays.
- Assist with the clearing of dining tables/trays.
- Check that all crockery and cutlery is clean and serviceable before use.
- Carry out cleaning routines as required.
- Ensure that all equipment is cleaned and put away after use.
- Carry out all duties in accordance with health, safety and hygiene regulations, with particular reference to record keeping and documentation.
- Ensure stock is rotated and perishable foods are not used past the use-by-date.
- Ensure food is stored correctly and safely.
- Report problems with equipment in accordance with the homes policy.
- Be familiar with the homes policies and procedures, particularly those relating to catering issues.
- Work as an effective team member and attend staff meetings and training as required.
- Perform as required other related duties which contribute to the effective running of the home.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: £11.44 per hour
