Computational Biologist

You are an expert research informatician and computational biologist with previous expertise in a breadth of 'omic data types. You are expert in the design, data acquisition for, and analysis of 'omic data sets and have advanced expertise in one or more of genetic, transcriptomic, proteomic, epigenetic or epidemiological data sets, for example. You will use these skills, whilst working with colleagues from a wide range of disciplines from across the ARUK DDA, for the study of targets and mechanisms relevant to neurodegenerative conditions. You have expertise in the statistical methodologies applied to analysis of data from the large 'omic data sets and are adept at conveying the biological significance of findings to scientists from other disciplines. You believe in the power of data science to create a paradigm shift in the way we understand disease and select the next generation of therapeutic targets and markers. This post will be embedded at Cambridge, and will collaborate with Namshik Han at the Milner Therapeutics Institute. You will form an integrated informatics team with your colleagues across the DDA, will regularly travel to the institutes and Oxford and UCL and will have the benefit of support from Prof Brian Marsden (Centre for Medicines Discovery, University of Oxford).
