The main purpose of the role is to research sensitive information held by Warwickshire Police, both in electronic and hard copy formats, to identify records for review and/or deletion in accordance with relevant legislation, i.e. CPIA, Management of Police Information Code of Practice (MoPI), Warwickshire Police Data Safeguards Policy & Procedures and NPCC Guidance.

This to specifically focus upon legacy material covertly acquired by Warwickshire Police, providing advice and guidance to investigators in respect of Retention and Disposal procedures, identifying and ensuring such material is destroyed when no longer required for continued retention.

To maintain an audit record of all material reviewed, together with the rationale for further retention or disposal.

**Main Responsibilities**:
To conduct reviews of sensitive force records in accordance with the guidance on the Management of Police Information (MoPI), other national legislation and Warwickshire Police policy.

To recommend the retention and disposal of records.

To maintain auditable records that underpin decisions to retain or dispose of records.

To produce written and statistical reports as required.

To refer to force CAB Manager where an interpretation of the Data Safeguards procedures are required.

To liaise with business areas to ensure all records relating to a nominal or force record are disposed of when the electronic record is deleted.

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.

To index records onto the force’s eArchive records management system in line with retention periods.

**Knowledge**:
Level 3,or equivalent, qualification

Working knowledge of Police Information Management, the MoPI Code of Practice, National and local policing objectives and the Data Protection Act

Good knowledge of CHIS procedures, disclosure and Risk Assessment.

Good knowledge of RIPA 2000, IPA 2021, CPIA 1996, DPA 1998 and GDPR.

**Experience**:
Experience of working within strict protocols using sound analytical problem-solving techniques whilst recording progress and maintaining an audit trail

Experience of interrogating computer systems, conducting research and testing results for compliance.

Experience of record retentions and review and quality control methodology systems.

**Key Skills**:
Good interpersonal skills both written and oral and the ability to communicate at all levels.

Ability to use a wide range of media including IT systems to maintain and develop standards of information recording and legal compliance.

Ability to work with mínimal supervision.

Ability to manage competing demands in a multi-site, multi-functional organisation.
