Groundsperson - 6 Month Initial Contract

General Description of Responsibilities

To carry out general maintenance duties within Denmead, providing high quality and responsive services that improve the environment in accordance with the Council’s governing principles, policies, priorities and decisions as set by the Parish Council.

Main Duties to include

Grounds Maintenance
- Mowing and strimming of grass, grass edging, turf laying and seeding grass.
- Weeding, deadheading and watering planters, hanging baskets and wildflower beds.
- Removal and control of weeds, moss and other vegetation.
- Cutting back vegetation overhanging roads and footpaths.
- Hedge trimming, pruning bushes and trees.
- Clearance of leaves and litter, removing fly posters and graffiti.
- Planting of plants, seeds and bulbs, mulching, compost making and other horticulture tasks.
- Clearing drains and rodding of pipes.
- Erection and removal of displays and equipment associated with special events e.g., Remembrance Day, Christmas.
- Any other such general duties as the Council might require.

Street Furniture Maintenance
- Cleaning, staining, repainting and minor repairs of notice boards, benches, bins, bus shelters, picnic tables, changing rooms, toilets, play equipment, fences and street furniture.
- Erecting signs, notices, displays and boards.
- Installing fences, gates, benches and bins.
- Emptying Council owned or overflowing bins.
- Cleaning and minor repairs of changing rooms, buildings, Community and Parish property.
- Erection and dismantling of sports and other equipment.
- Any other such general duties as the Council might require.

Administration and Safety
- Complying with Health and Safety Regulations and Council policies and procedures and attending any training necessary for the role.
- To work within supplied risk assessments and safety requirements, completing any necessary documentation, cleaning and maintaining equipment and tools.
- Maintaining a record of equipment used so regular servicing of tools and equipment can be scheduled.
- Advising the Head Groundsperson on the purchase of maintenance equipment and supplies.

**Salary**: £11.00-£12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37 per week
