**Teaching Assistant**
**Permanent/Full Time - £19,422 term time only except last two weeks of August**
**Carlisle - CA1**
**- Are you looking for a new career?**
**- Would you like to work with a diverse group of young people?**
**- Do you have a passion for inclusivity?**
In order to match the demand of our growing community, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a **Teaching Assistant** to join one of our Alternative Education schools.
At our school, we provide a huge range of learning spaces for small groups to work with a teacher and learning support mentor. The creative curriculum focuses on the acquisition of skills and qualifications to support a successful progression beyond Year 11. We also work closely to develop our students’ interpersonal skills so that they can break down their learning barriers.
After students have left us, we continue to support them with their next steps
In each of our schools, there is an average of 30-55 pupils on roll which allows us to create a nurturing and encouraging environment for the students. As a Teaching Assistant, you must have experience in a secondary setting, whether that be mainstream or an alternative provision. It is crucial that you can use your passion for education to foster a love of learning and provide our young people with a stimulating environment where they can learn and flourish.
- GCSEs in Maths and English C or 4 grade and above (or an equivalent)
- Experience of working within an education setting or equivalent.
- Experience working with vulnerable pupils
Our schools are small but perfectly formed, with an average of 30-55 pupils on roll. Our sole focus is to help young people achieve positive progressions that will allow them to return to mainstream schools or enter into Further Education. We provide opportunities for children who need a safe space outside of home, alongside adults who can provide a nurturing, encouraging and supportive environment.
With this in mind, we would love to hear from applicants who are passionate about working with young people who need support to make positive changes. If they can lead a team of peers with the same mindset, that would be highly beneficial.
**Role and responsibilities**:
- Supporting all students throughout the school in a 1:1, whole class support or outside the class capacity
- Continuing the altruistic work of the group
- Giving the pupils the chance to either get back into mainstream schools or progress into a sustained Post 16 pathway
- Contribute to a positive ethos for learning
- Overtly promote the values and achievements of the school to the community
- Be aware of and follow the company Equality, Safeguarding and Health and Safety Policies
- Have and create high expectations of staff and students
**Expectations within the role**:
- Assist the teacher with writing and monitoring pupil learning plans.
- Review and implement interventions which enable pupils to understand and meet their targets.
- Support with the delivery of learning activities in the absence of the teacher.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other practitioners, drawing on their strengths and expertise to best support teaching and learning.
- Adapt to pupil and school requirements on a day to day basis.
- Work with all staff to address pupils’ barriers to learning.
We are passionate about developing our staff as well as our students. Throughout your time with us, you will be fully supported with a range of CPD, career progression and in house training, which includes paid qualifications. This goes alongside numerous other benefits such as a pension scheme and parental leave.
**Highlights of our benefits package include**:
