Reporting to the Registered Manager or Director, the Domestic Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the general hygiene of service users' homes meets the required standard, and that staff are competently trained to carry this out.

**Duties of the job include**:

- Allocating cleaning programmes for each domestic employee and monitoring the quality and thoroughness of the work.
- Controlling an allocated budget for the purchase of cleaning materials and minimising waste.
- Being responsible for the checking of hours worked by each domestic employee and authorising the total hours on each timesheet.
- Attending and contributing to staff meetings and encouraging motivation and a good working atmosphere.
- Being familiar with the service’s safeguarding policies and procedures and ensuring that they are followed by all staff under their supervision.
- Being part of the cleaning rota and sharing in the cleaning duties.
- Recruiting and training domestic staff;
- Arranging staff rotas;
- Ensuring all cleaning meets quality standards;
- Managing absence and disciplinary matters

**Key Qualities**:

- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within the health & social care sector
- Leadership skills/experience
- Physically fit;
- Good at following instructions and procedures
- Attention to detail
- Responsible and reliable
- Be able to work unsupervised
- Excellent organisation skills
- Excellent teamwork skills.

**Desirable qualities**:

- GCSEs in English and Mathematics
- NVQ in cleaning and/or healthcare
- Qualification from the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc)

The post holder must comply with all company Information and Data Protection policies at all times.

**HEALTH AND SAFETY**

Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed on them under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and any subsequent relevant legislation and must follow these in full at all times including ensuring that they act in line with all agreed procedures at all times in order to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. **MANAGING STRESS**

Zirojob Limited has an agreed policy & procedure which links with a range of services and arrangements for staff to manage stress. All staff are required to familiarise themselves with the policy and services to best manage their own and their colleagues’ stress.

**HEALTHCARE ASSOCIATED INFECTIONS (HCAIs)**

All staff have a responsibility to act and follow all instructions to protect patients, staff and others from HCAIs. All staff are required to follow the Hygiene Code and all company policies and procedures related to it and the Health Act 2006. Failure to comply with any of these may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
