The successful applicant will work alongside Dr Baker (7PAs), Dr Goggin (8.5 PAs) and Dr Bush (6.5PAs) to co-ordinate, support and develop the delivery of specialist palliative care by the multi-professional team across the care settings: in the hospice, the acute hospital and community. There can be flexibility with regard to the exact nature of the post depending on the successful applicant's interests. There are also many opportunities to develop, or continue, a specialist interest and joint working is already well developed with the oncologists, neurologists and heart failure team. There is also the opportunity to become a Medical Examiner and support the acute trust in this respect. At present the palliative medicine consultants jointly provide the medical examiner role for 1 session a week. Full training and development would be provided through the Royal College of Pathologists.
