We are Mind in Mid Herts, a leading mental health charity based in Hertfordshire, affiliated to National Mind; with centres in St Albans, Stevenage, Hertford and Welwyn Garden City. We are working to reduce the stigma of mental health diagnosis and we support people with mental health conditions to create a pathway to recovery. We are innovative in creating services to improve wellbeing and to prevent the development of mental health issues. Through education and support we aim to improve people's awareness of how to be proactive in looking after their health and wellbeing. An excellent opportunity has arisen for associate trainers to become part of the Mind in Mid Herts team based in Hertfordshire.

**About the role**

The service to be provided by the contracted tutor/trainer will be in agreement with the Mind in Mid Herts Training Department; and can include delivering training such as; Mental Health Awareness, Mental Health for Managers, Building Resilience, Mental Health Champions Training, Mindfulness and Suicide Prevention. We offer a range of courses from 1 hour to 2 days.

**Skills, knowledge and experience Essential**:
Trainers must have one of the following criteria:

- Experience of leading training and presentations to a group to facilitate learning with the ability to adapt facilitation techniques to meet the requirements of the audience
- Tutoring or training qualifications for example PTTLS, CTS, teacher training qualification or equivalent.
- A good knowledge of mental health and mental health problems.
- A positive attitude to mental health problems and inclusion, demonstrating an understanding of the social model of disability.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to present information using a variety of methods.
- Good group facilitation skills including the ability to organise groups and to manage and respond appropriately to strong opinions and discriminatory language.
- Influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to put in place a group agreement for the safety of people with lived experience and all the delegates.
- Strong team work skills demonstrating the ability to co-deliver a workshop.
- The knowledge, confidence and ability to use PowerPoint and websites during delivery of the session and to signpost to other apps and technology, positively.
- Understanding of the boundaries within the role and programme delivery.
- Good time keeping skills.

**Desirable**:

- Direct, personal ‘lived experience’ of mental health problems

**Benefits**
- Mind in Mid Herts will pay the fee that has been agreed. This is usually £30 per hour, but can be agreed depending upon the training requirement and programme.
- Other out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed on agreement with the relevant line manager on the production of appropriate receipts.
- Expenses for travelling from the associate trainers home address to the place of work will not be paid, unless agreed by the Training Department under exceptional circumstances.

- Weekend availability
