**Job overview**:
**This part time (30 hours) role is working within the Trust's busy Legal Services department and you will be based at Fairfield General Hospital.**

You will be responsible for the efficient administration of the requests for disclosure of health records to the Coroner and will need to have a working knowledge of the Data Protection Act 1998. You will ensure confidentiality is observed on all matters and maintain a professional and non-judgmental conduct in discharging your duties. This role requires a large amount of time on photocopying and paginating medical records to be shared at Coroner’s court.

There may also be a requirement to support within the wider team and assist the legal services administrative function on an ad hoc basis.

**Main duties of the job**:

- Deal with and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role on a daily basis.
- Use Patient Administration Systems, Electronic Patient Record system, Datix database and other electronic systems as required.
- Ensure relevant authorisation is obtained prior to disclosure of records if applicable.
- Ensure that an accurate record is made and maintained of all requests for disclosure of information to the Coroner and clinician teams.
- Paginate and ensure medical records are sent to the Coroner in a timely manner.
- Maintain an efficient and effective filing system, both manually and electronically.
- Ensure new inquests are added to the datix system in a timely manner.
- Ensure statements are chased in a timely manner.
- Other administrative duties as designated by the senior members of the Legal and Patient Safety team.
